The compact nature of the design reduced vulnerabilities when compared to its predecessor. It also boasted an advanced subspace communication suite that could coordinate fleets at a moment's notice. In many ways, the Nimitz Class signified a shift from the 'bigger is better' approach that prevailed Starfleet shipbuilding since its inception. She was smaller compared to heavy cruiser contemporaries, but boasted tremendous leaps in engine performance, operating efficiency and internal systems."
