I meant to upload this yesterday, but life happens, and updates don't get finished.This update was seriously a pain in the butt because of how many times photoshop crashed on me while doing the line art. As a result, I half-assed the line art and threw my hands in the air as I shouted, "OFF WITH YOU, PHOTOSHOP!" And then I bought Manga Studio 5, and all was right with the world.
It took me a long time to get used to Manga Studio, but I already like it A LOT. So this update was my test dummy, and I apologize for the way this was presented. I'm just glad it's over.
In this update, we uh.... yeah. Clare tries to be a big girl and win the gym badge during a brawl fight. DID I MENTION BRAWL FIGHTS ARE BROADCASTED ALL OVER KANTO? Smart move Clare, smart move.
And then that thing happens.
I was so tempted to make Glenn say "Oh look at that, I've been impaled." but I didn't, for your sake.
I think this is one of the few gijinka deaths I've seen illustrated on dA. Poor Glenn, you will be missed. HE'S NOT ACTUALLY DEAD YET. I'm raking him over the coals for a little bit longer.

...I'm really interested in doing a gijinkalocke but obviously not because of you and Nyapapa . There's a problem though: I don't know what game and when to do the locke (I'm actually planning on doing crap (Almost wrote "Carp") with my current nuzlocke for quite a while) and the story and all that crap! I suck at designing just REGULAR POKEMON to be at least somewhat unique. I just add a few scars and boom.

Honestly if this is how Glenn dies i'd be a little disappointed.
He doesn't seem all that botherd by it just like " Ouch that sucks"
And Misty's just like " Hey don't go impaling people."

Is that really all you got from that scene? I'm sorry if that's the case. I'd imagine when someone is impaled, their immediate reaction would be shock, rather than pain. The next pain showing Glenn's face was intended to show pain.
Misty doesn't hold the same empathy for gijinka that she holds for humans. She's not a bad person, but seeing a challenger seriously injured on the battlefield is nothing new to her. I hope my future updates are more satisfying in these aspects, and I'll definitely take note from what you've said.

(I just wanted to be sure. I was slightly aggravated by the fact that the panels didn't seem to flow AFTER I'd drawn everything in. It's definitely a learning process, and I am far from adequate in this area of art.)

Maybe it's not so much the faces but maybe the lack of blood or sound affect.
So it's kinda like he's a sack who just got poked.
The cheesy ish line by the goldeen doesn't help.
I thought it flowed pretty well without the arrows. Just needed a little touches. You'll get better

I didn't intend for this to be a bloody page D: I purposefully omitted the blood on the stabbing panel. mmhmm. I'm sorry you think my lines are cheesy D: Perhaps you could come up with something better.
I'm almost positive I've mentioned it in the artist's comments in this update, but this whole scene gave me a lot of grief. I hope to improve update speed now that I've got a new program, but it didn't help that I had to re-do so much in this update multiple times. I suppose I sacrificed polished work for the sake of just getting the update done. Despite all this, I'm actually happy with the way this page turned out, which is why I'm especially interested in what you have to say. I would like to think I've improved a lot since my first update, and finding a good niche is a work in progress. Do I add more blood and adult themes? Or do I keep the story relatively mundane, just enough to get the story across? I'm constantly experimenting with new ideas. So thank you for your input!

Yeah trying to find a balance is hard, but you'll find something that works for you.

All competitors are allowed weapons relating to their special moves, but when enacted upon the intent to kill or seriously injure another opponent is when things get ugly. D:
In the higher up gyms, with competitors with more experience, protective gear is a must. So the horn attack was a move that might have passed in a higher up gym, with participants that have had more experience, but unfortunately, that was not the case here D:

hmm I wonder if it missed his vitals also did you say Feymark drew something inappropriate of clare I demand to see this. interesting page I liked how you took this opportunity to explain the limitations of battlers in battle. gerjinker lockes take a lot of exposition and it can be hard to find a good place to do it which is going to be demanding on the writing, but you did it nicely here. rad.
