Such a good catch! I so seldom see the vultures hanging out on the ground, much less spreading their wings...

Thanks. I was pretty lucky to get it. I usually don't see them on the ground either and if I do, they fly off quickly when I try and get close!

We had an old dead tree in our front yard and we used to have six or seven of them perched on the branches at once, mostly all sunning themselves and it was so awesome to see. Sadly we had to have the tree cut down since it was at risk of falling and taking out our power lines.


My mom and I love watching these beautiful birds though, but a lot of the people out here in the country think they're disgusting and an annoyance ):

I saw about 10 of them in a dead tree on my way home from work last week. They were so cool and eerie looking.

That's cool! A while ago I saw a gigantic flock of these guys, at least 5-10 perched in each tree and there were something like 20 trees in the area. I didn't get any great pictures though.

I got to see a big beautiful hawk today, but the sun where I was at wouldn't let my camera see the hawk. Once I can hopefully get my computer working all the way maybe I can edit so it can be seen.  


This is a cool show though, what's the story on how ya got this one?

He was among about 7 or so vultures who were all standing around in an abandoned driveway. For some reason, vultures around here stand on street lights with their wings spread open like this one is doing. Not sure why but they do it alot when it is raining or about to rain.
