This is great, James. Never read Lone Wolf, tho. Have you read Vagabond by Takehiko Inoue??

I read the first 10 or so back in the day. I liked his work but I'm not that crazy about it these days to be honest. Very assistant heavy.

Amazing stuff jamsie, as always. And I can't believe your still using proper, meat-space zippa. You rascal. You're like that disney movie where a kid befriends a mummy from the spoooky past, but with drawing.

damn intense!,.. all and everything from lines to strokes! and the screens... I wonder where can I have them? it seems so hard to find tones in the Philippines ... Awesome nice work! You're one of those who inspire me to still be loyal to traditional drawing.. THANK YOU!

JHarren In reply to rabanocnic [2014-03-11 02:42:59 +0000 UTC]

I pick them up at a store here in NYC. Here's a site I've used in the past though. I'm not sure if they ship to the Philippines though. deleter-mangashop.com/index_en…

Good luck hunting them down! I'm sure there are other sites out there if you do some googling around

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JHarren In reply to DanielWarrenJohnson [2014-03-11 02:40:56 +0000 UTC]

I pick them up here in NYC at the DaVinci art stores. I think there's a couple of sites online where you can snag them, though.

...absolutely wicked - the way you wield that ink is quite eye opening... in fact, reading your issues of BPRD lately i always have to spend atleast a second pass through just to analyze each panel transition & wipe the drool from my face because during the first read i am always so caught up in the action & pacing of the story until that last page... in fact, i was re-reading the first volume of the Akira trade the other nite & totally thought of how much i appreciate the attention you always put into everything when i came across the page where Ryu is running with Takashi down an alley & the way Otomo uses the panel shape & page composition to increase the speed of the action & energy as Ryu skids around the corner & Takashi's momentum keeps going... this is how reading a comic should always feel... not sure what i am really saying with all this, except that your work makes me really excited about comics again & is abundantly insightful in terms of the stories i hope to craft using this medium - mad props & much respect, as always.

That's awesome, man. Glad you're digging the BPRD. AKIRA and Otomo for me are such a high benchmark. I wouldn't have enough praise to describe how much I love that book. It's always close by the drawing table.

...congratulations on issue 117 - i have a snapshot stuck in my head still of the cigarette falling from dude's lips just as the wave of crickets is rolling in... everything was so cinematic, i even got the the feeling of camera pans with your panel shapes & transitions! However, what i found most mesmerizing was the internals of the building/tower where Black Flame was residing... such an opulant sense of controlled chaos with gorgeous compliments by D. Stewart - the flashback insets of their previous encounter was handled beautifully as well... i read this book in awe of how sinuous everything is crafted & how deftly you translate everything visually - honestly, i won't be surprised when these pages become the source material to put these characters up on the big screen... the panel with Howards coming down on the security guards & Iosif (those expressions, awesome!) getting destroyed by the bodyguard...  stupendous.

Wow....jesus. Wow. You are very kind. I'm glad this issue had such an effect on you. Thanks for taking the time to do be so succinct. You are extremely generous!
