Description
On one of the last days of my vacation on Crete the summer of 2005, I was on the beach in Georgiopolis very early in the morning, shortly after sunrise. I knew the riders from the nearby stable would probably pass by and I wanted to take a few photos of the horses galloping in the sand. Along with the riders came the owners black dog, a lovely black dog of gentle tempers. She used to accompany the riders everywhere, helping her owner to keep barking dogs from being too unfriendly to the horses.

On this morning, two strays were on the beach as well. I had befriended them just by being there and being willing to say hello with a pat on the head. As the horses had passed, the dog stayed behind for a short while, playing with the two strays and I had the opportunity to take this photo.
