Description
This is a painting of Ellie from the PlayStation game The Last of Us.Photoshop CS5 and Wacom Bamboo
I have put a link showing some stages of the painting
I wanted to bring Ellie to life and to show you something that isn’t available anywhere. I watched YouTube (I haven’t got the game) and saw the part where she kills the dreadful David and another part where she rescues Joel after he falls onto a huge spike. I saw another side to her. Before all I saw was the cute and innocent aspects to her. But after watching the clips and hearing her swearing, I saw something totally different. She was so courageous, so strong and had so much anger when she started hacking up David. And I think she would have sacrificed herself to save Joel, who I guess she looked up as her father. I cannot believe that it was a game that I was watching and not a Hollywood blockbuster.

I got done watching the whole walkthrough online and the game is incredible. You really connect with Joel and Ellie, and love the outcome of the ending as it is fitting.

I always wondered, go you have any special brushes ? I mean for the hair for exemple ?

I used a standard soft brush for 95% for all my paintings with 50% flow and opacity, including the hair

Oww, that might be the reason I think my work is too.. "weird"
I usually use a standart brush, with 100% flow and only 26% opacity
Okay, it's cool, but sometimes it gets a bit.. messy, untidy
And because of that I always have to erase, restart... ahah

I'm self taught, and I just want to keep things simple. I don't uses 'masks' and only 2 brush settings. For blocking, its a soft brush 100% for both Flow and Opacity with pressure off. Then after that, for blending and fine detail, its the same brush but 50% flow/opacity with pressure ON. I only use the special brushes for things like texture, fur, smoke etc but still on 50% Flow/Opacity and pressure on. Try it Melvin, but bear in mind my way may not be the best way

Still can't believe you're producing this stuff. really love it man, you said it, one of the best games, brilliant cinematics and an absolutely brilliant/riveting story that grabs you instantly.
What i see in this pic is a young girl struggling between anguish, purity and self preservation, a voice screaming out from the shadows to be heard, appreciated, loved and respected as her own person and as an adult.
its really great truman, love that you put your own spin on it too!

yeah man its really awesome and yeah the characters are so easy to get close to, im not too sure on the movie but if you watch
all the games cinematics, its sort of like a movie it goes for about 1 hr and 30mins prob is you miss some vital things that happen
within the game play but if you watch a few different playthroughs on youtube and then watch the said cinematic "movie" you
should be able to understand everything in it.
But if there is a movie then HOLY CRAP that will be amazing!!!

I actually love watching the game being played by others on YouTube. The movie might have been missed information while I was researching for the first 'Ellie' that I'd painted as I had never heard of the game before that. I'm painting something from 'Mass Effect' have you heard of that or played it?
