Jia Lu 2011, Faith, oil on canvas 36 x 36 inchesSometimes we sit in doubt and darkness with only the faintest of hope to keep us warm. Often our faith has to illuminate the way for others, too. So many of our greatest accomplishments in science and the arts have started as little more than a belief in the face of opposition and ignorance. We become great only through faith in ourselves, in other human beings, in the generosity of nature and in a power that transcends them all.

Dear Jia Lu,
I bought your books and DVD, what a joy is to find such beautiful and inspiring artwork in this time art that uplifts one's spirit and emphasises the great and at the same time simple things in life.
I enjoy the little video of you in your studio. I would love to see more of you at work and talking about your ideas. The enterview in CCTV is in Chinese which I don't understand.
Thank you for all you do, I hope I can go to LA and visit your studio one day.

I used two models; one is a dancer in Beijing, the other is the daughter of a friend, but I usually make up the faces as I work, so if there is anyone who looks like this, I haven't met her!

I don't think I've ever seen an artist who combines the divine with the secular as effectively as Jia Lu. Maybe a better way of saying that is that she understands how to convey divine energy through her paintings in a way that is very accessible.
I could go on and on about how much I love this painting but my goodness, just look at how the light from the candle is reflected on the skin 
I think we need to contact the mods to fix the software to automatically give Jia Lu a DD every time she uploads
