Description Compassion 02 Cherished 怜悯系列二:悲怀 2010 oil, 48 × 48 inches

The model for this series is a dancer in the Jin Xing Contemporary Dance Company in Shanghai. They have performed at arts and dance festivals all over the world. Contemporary dance has always been a big inspiration in my work!

Well, that answers my rather idiotic query as to whether you use models. The emotion expressed in this piece is truly transcendent- without being too inquisitive, I wonder what it was you were seeing as you painted this. Your backgrounds (when they appear) interest me also- here there is the suggestion of something like a western cathedral, and a hint of a story by Dunsany , 'The Kith of the Elf Folk.'

Wonderful colors in this piece, and I love how (for once on DA it seems,) the female figure isn't distorted to be all skin and bones with giant breasts.

Great piece!

Thank you, and especially for your comment on the female figure. The aesthetics of the human form are always changing but the currently popular mammaries-on-a-pole seems to reflect a willful ignorance of female anatomy.

I agree completely. I cannot tell you how many drawings are ruined due to cartoonish anatomy decisions. It's not attractive outside the realm of male sexual fantasies, and it belittles the beauty found in the actual female figure.

not to budge in on a conversation, but it could be some sort of reaction to the models of the style of Frazetta because his were curvy and Full haha

I find you work to be so very sensuous like hot Molten Chocolate Chipotle Cake with Blood Orange Sauce and vanilla ice cream, the mind dose not know where it will go next but you know you will enjoy it.

Incredible... I can see her moving, the light changing, I can imagine having this on my wall and spending hours gazing at it while the story unfolds...

Realistic art invites narrative, doesn't it? In my imagination, this woman has found a shimmering bit of life and wants to protect it, nourish it, help it thrive and grow, but I don't know where they go after that.
