Description I've had a long standing love of pulp science fiction, but I've never let that come through in my work. This is my first attempt at capturing that feeling and, I gotta say, I'm pretty excited about the results.

You did well. I like the colors, background and the character you've used here (even the fact that her heel seems to be floating, which is a nice touch) but her hips are a little off (the legs look like they're connected to eachother rather than the hips) and the arms are a little stiff and this throws off the rest of the drawing. If you studied anatomy (for artists... anatomy for health fields is less about the way the body moves and more about its parts, which isn't so great for an artist unless they already know the body's 'flow') a bit more and got down a solid gesture and then build a pose from it in a sketchbook first before taking it to the bristol board then you'll really have some great drawings!

Holy crap! Some honest to goodness feedback! Her heel *is* floating, btw. Now that I look at it, yeah, I need to connect her thighs further up the pelvis and I had everything lookin awesome in my preliminary sketches and then it kinda stiffened up when I went bigger, which, I can honestly point to an inability to do the stages in one go (sketching was broken up, inking was broken up, etc.)

Recently, I was unhappy with everything I had been putting out and went back to the basics, while also learning new techniques and tools (I recently started inking with a brush and even more recently switched from India ink to China). This coupled with the responsibilities of a stay-at-home parent of a 5 month old caused a lot of lag between actual working sessions.

I have 2 anatomy books that I need to study, but they're in storage and I can't find the damn things, so I'm kinda flying blind with some of this.

Thank you for the criticism, my friend! This is just what I've been needing to help me figure out my problem areas. You are always welcome to leave just this kind of commentary on any and all of my work.

You're very welcome. I'm going to do a few gesture and anatomy tutorials pretty soon based on what I use to help me with my anatomy and I'll remember to comment on your page a little later about them, but knowing what the muscles, bones and ligaments do can really help you figure out your anatomy. I'm always learning something new, but I was a bio major before I changed my mind and decided I wanted to work in illustration and video games instead of medicine, lol. I'm glad you still find the time to draw even while watching over a little one. A couple of my friends are new fathers right now and they're all over the place with their kids so I can imagine it must be extremely difficult to parent, work, and still find time to do what you love. Good luck to you!

I look forward to those tutorials.

Once I get better, I'll have to pick your brain about getting into the industry, if you don't mind!
