Description Fanart sketch of Yuki Yuna. Just finished watching it today. It was no Madoka, but I still liked it.

Hello there! You have been visited by a Critique Ninja! We stealthily roam the site, looking to leave thoughtful and useful criticism, as per the spirit of CRITmas . Mind if I just hop on to business, then? Just swooping in and out again - that is the Ninja way...!

First things first: some praise! I need to have it said that her pose is a-ma-zing; there's so much personality speaking from it and from her expression. Plus it makes for a very good composition, especially with her hair swaying like that.

But I think I spot something off about her legs; maybe her limbs in relation to her torso in general. I realise this is manga/anime and proportions are something peculiar when we delve into stylised character design, but consider this. Typically, in a normal human being, if you stand relaxed and let your hands hang by your sides, your fingertips will approximately be one hand-length higher than your kneecaps. If I picture Yuki Yuna standing up, those arms might not reach that far.
The thing that stands out the most to me though, is the curve of her right (our left) tigh muscle, which simply isn't there. Her knee on her other leg seems to bend towards the inside as well, even though we would be looking at it from the front.

I think this is about as much as I can say, because I don't know the character or the style any better. I hope there's something in here that you can use to your advantage of, mind - in the future, because the way it is I still like this sketch.

I hope you have a wonderful day and a Happy New Year!
Cheers

Thanks for taking the time to write a critique, I appreciate it! I don't really have any counter points, I agree with the things you said. I will pay more attention to these details in the future. Most of all I'm glad you like the pose as I tried not to use a reference for this sketch. Although I should still be using references for the details I don't understand yet, to me that means the figure drawing practicing I have been doing is paying off and it makes me want to keep doing it.

Good luck to your team in the CRITmas event!
