You actually painted this, I'm amazed. Can you send me private message sometime about the steps involved. Washes, paints, etc. What was most difficult/important for the piece to come together.

This was made a few years back, so I'm not completely sure if I can remember the whole process.
I used the 'wet on wet' technique for most of the painting. That's why it was so easy to create a blurry reflection for the trees in the water. The mountains were done with a palette knife, as were the trees in the background. I worked my way forward with thicker brushes and dark paints. The most difficult part was probably going back and adding to the painting; the pine trees on the left originally didn't have a reflection. So I had to paint on already dry paint and attempt to make the colors match as best as possible.

With landscapes, I just make them up as I go along. But with portraits, I need a photo so I can get the likeness of a person very close.
