Description
Water is regard holy as soma, the two are divine life givers.
As water is very holy yet precious, washing should be done for the spiritual mind or if the body becomes unclean overtime. For a Monk, when the body releases unpleasant body odours over a durations of days, weeks or months, this is regarded as a sign that Lord Shiva wants to bless your devotion by washing you in the holy rivers.
A mortal, not a monk is required to bathe every 6th day. However water must not be used excessively incase it pulls out any body hair such as chest, arms, legs and pubic hair. Therefore, washing areas where there is abundance of hair, one must try to cover it with a guard so that the water does not distrub the hair forestation.
