Bleh. The title is stupid. X[
Yea... Instead of drawing her in a modelling pose, I decided to have her captured by a gang of orcs. X]
The orcs has taken her weapons but she is still pretty feisty.
I know, I know. I used a couple of stocks from DA on this pic. X] I like it. Though I’m thinking about making my own stock photos so I don’t have to use others. I know that they are putting the stocks up for others to use. ^^ But I’m one who likes to use my own stuff...
Except for brushes. I can’t make my own brushes that looks nice. So DA to the rescue. X]
Edit: I've changed Jiv from her wood elf-look to her original drow.

How do you manage to get the pattern onto the picture?

I select a pattern and set the layer to multiply, overlay or any other setting that I think might fit. And sometimes I change the opacity.
I use photoshop for this.

Thanks! I'll try it sometime, I was so inspired by your picture that I'm going to actually try to conquer shading, too. Light sources are not my friends. The picture is beautiful! Is there a backstory to the character and her... predicament?

Light sources is not really my strong side either. I tend to do shading where I think they should appear without thinking on where the light is. Witch might make the picture look weird.
The character (my alter ego) has been captured by orcs when she tried to protect her home village from an assault.
Her best friend (her horse) died as he attempted to rescue her.
And she is also a half drow. Her skin and hair looks like of the forest elf because she is wearing a charmed jewel. She was born with blue eyes.
I draw Jivra alot and have more pictures of her in my gallery.

The depth in this is very well done. The char being the focal while the trees in the distance being blurred losing focal point was done very well! If I had to crit it my only suggestion would be to give the tree a touch more detail on the bark to compliment the detail you added to the char's outfit. Regardless, still very well done!

But I will think of it the next time I add a tree that close.

I got that. I want's much for photoshop terms before but I learned what stuff where called through tutorials. though I had to figure out what they all where by myself.
I might do that. but I'm focusing on fantasy now. elves and stuff. If Ax is in a form that fits, then she might appear in some pics. or I go Jiv-fallen angel with Ax the devil. depends on wich form I feel like drawing.

My cousin is making a logo for her team in roller derby, and I sat there for about ten minutes just being completely transfixed by what she was doing. I see it as a skill, just like fine art. I tried photoshop once, but my teacher kind of got fed up with me calling him over every five minutes.
