Jivra playing a melody on her sweet potato ocarina. (it’s more practical than a flute, and I like ocarina better.)
This is one of the rare moments for Jivra, where she can take it easy from the stressful life of hers. When no one is around and she can play on her instrument. She never plays for an audience of people, only plays for the forest and the animals so no human, elf orc, halfling or other has ever heard her play.
I have a flute irl (passed down to me from my older sisters. So naturally...it’s older than me. XD ). I also have an ocarina (small one, I don’t know where the big one is), pan flute and a Jew’s harp.
I had the last one in my possession since I was... um...seven...five? Ok, I don’t remember how old I was when I got it but I was little then. Lets say I had it, like, forever. XDD
It’s safe to say that I personally enjoy blowing (pun intended, you perverts) on an instrument rather than clinking on a big ass piano, ruining my fingertips on a clumsy guitar, getting my hands bloody on the drums or torturing my surrounding with my horrible voice (but sometimes people needs to be punished >] ).
I would love to play many songs on my flute/ocarina, though the problem is I can’t read notes. I need picture tabs.
Too bad I can’t find tabs for my ocarina. =[
Anyway, this picture is made as a wallpaper and I have several more versions. But I decided to post this one.

Lovin' the artwork, even though I have no idea what it's meant to be from or anything. But it involves an ocarina....so that's enough to get my attention, lol!
Hey, don't feel bad if you can't read music and have to use tabs.
I'm like, 30 something.....and I consider myself too old to learn music. It was damn hard enough when I was at school, lol!
If tabs work for you, then use tabs. Whatever gets you there.
And I'm not sure what ocarina you have, but there are lots of tabs out there for EVERY ocarina, I promise!
I myself have a tiny 4 hole one (hurts my ears, it's so high pitched) and my bigger beloved dragontooth ocarina (12 hole) from Songbird ocarinas.
When learning songs, I will use a combo of using tabs, or if I know the song note perfect by heart, I can work it out purely by ear, which I have done for at least half the songs I know, if not more.
So nice to see yet another talented person on here that is into ocarinas as well. I don't usually mention that I play, as people give you the weirdest look when you say you play the ocarina. Peasants, lol!
Keep up your beautiful creativity, both with the art and the music.

This picture was drawn for myself to reflect the peaceful feeling I get when listening to relaxing Celtic music.
I played the flute in junior school as mandatory class (the book had tabs so it was easy to learn). I discovered the ocarina a lot later which is a shame because I fancy the ocarina more than a flute both in shape, use and sound and would have loved to learn it back in junior school.
I also wanted to learn the violin but my sister said I had to learn notes. I was young back then and had no idea what notes where and the way my sister said it, made it sound like something evil and it scared me off. I have tried different instruments for the fun of it and have learned a song or two strictly by watching someone else, from tabs or play by ear. Mostly on the piano and ocarina.
I have a small ocarina as well but it has six holes on the front and two in the back (high notes as well. perhaps too high for my ears X] ). I used to have a sweet potato as well but it's been missing for a few years. Both clay made and bought at a medieval fair.
Awesome. Dragonthoot looks so cool. Songbirds ocarinas are fun to look at. I also like to look at STL Ocarinas. (don't know if they are the same.)
It is really nice to know that I am not the only one who can play without knowing how to read notes.

Not sure what reason I had for drawing this but I like the idea.
Personally I like to play music with my ocarina but I don't want people to listen, so playing for nature and animals would be ideal for me.
I have always loved the melody 'Morning mood'. I suggest you put that on while you look at this picture. It was the mood I had when I drew it.
I’m happy with the colours on Jivra’s clothes. I will probably use them again even if I might draw a different design.
Even if black and blue are my favourite colours, earthly colours such as green, brown and others are what I usually use. Because it’s nature. ^^
(I would have named the picture 'Serenade of the forest' but there is no forest there. XD maybe next time.

I know the feeling, I rather also like to play Guitar for myself or mother nature, I hate playing for others because it makes me feel foolish....no idea why
I am impressed you can play in a Ocarina, I never tried it, but I´ve heard it should be little hard

I'm not exactly a music player. as I say in my comment, I can't read notes. I would need picture tabs to be able to play a melody or I play by ear or I just make it up as I go. I'm not good at it but since I don't play for an audience, I don't really give a darn.
You can find it on youtube. I think you will recognise it once you hear it.

Not everybody can play.
I still have the instruments and I play when I'm alone. The ocarina is the easiest for me to play. I love the sound on the pan flute but for me it's the hardest one to play.

I was pretty good at drums and I sometimes played guitar, and piano. but I don't like them. Blowing intruments I like.

I can still play old song from my childhood, I learned to play them first by ear so I don't know if I'm playing them correctly.
Anyway, all I have to do is to clink a little to get the memory back and then it goes pretty smothe.

I really like seeing Jivra like this- so calm and not frowning at anybody. Just relaxed ^^ The clothes and the colours suits her well and it composes greatly with the sunny background. Hmmm if she was in the forest, maybe she'd blend into the background..?? o.o Like a chameleon

I was trying to design something else for her but I grew tired of it and just gave her what she has on now. ^^ It still fits though. colour and style since she is a wood elf. And yes, she probably would blend in to the background if she was in a forest.
I suggest you put on morning mood on youtube when you look at this picture.
