I didnt play WoW but i played my fair share of MMORPGs, those were the days... i miss it too.

It's depressing because those days can never come back. With the specific MMOs, they've changed and even private servers or Blizzard's impending classic servers can bring the old days back because the games have been solved; everybody knows pretty much everything about them now. In general, the gaming populace has changed. Back in the day, people valued human interaction and they had wanderlust. Nowadays people treat MMOs like a job. That was back when you would wave at somebody running past you on the road and when you would hang out at the tavern to have a drink that didn't even get you drunk in real life.

I know what you mean, the first MMO i played didnt even have a map so it was so exciting just to explore and find the entrance to the next area by accident. I remember i made a friend who guided me through 3-4 areas of high lvl mobs into the next town and i was amazed that i didnt know these places even existed! And i remember someone teaching me a glitch to get on top of the mountains next to a town so you could observe the in-town arena of high lvl players fighting from above. Truly some wondrous experiences in those times. But i also think part of the magic is lost because of growing up, everything seems more magical when you're younger y'know?

Sure, but if I experienced MMOs for the first time at this age I'd still probably wanna soak it all in. I still do that in other games sometimes.
