I like it! Lots of detail, even down to the historical armaments of the time in which the epic, Beowulf, was written.

It's definitely nothing like the absolutely hideous portrayal of half naked barbarians you see in the "For Honor" game, or the black leather biker jackets you see in History Channel's "Vikings". Oh! and don't get me started on the dreaded horned helmets.

Yeah, the wardrobe on History Channel's Vikings was completely disappointing, ridiculous and non-historical. Β Not one set of historically accurate armor was seen worn by the Norsemen on that show. I liked Lagertha but her large-scale retinue of female vikings was over-the-top cheesy and non-historical as well.Β

Yeah, they tend to wear rags, or if they are nobles, they wear what scholargladiatoria would describe as "modern day biker gear". Also, while most movies give Vikings ridiculous horned helmets, this show gives them NO helmets, (except for that ceramic cereal bowl that Ivar wears on his head). No one cares about protecting their heads in this show. The Vikings are basically primitive cavemen.

It is not just the Vikings, but the Christian's as well that are misrepresented. They are hyper advanced compared to them for some reason, even though Pagan Vikings and Christian Knights had access to essentially the same equipment at the time. Many knights were Danes themselves, such as the Norman Knights. I also recall some of the Christian soldiers in the show wearing steel plate chest pieces, which wasn't available until the early 14th Century. Some of the soldiers in this show also wear this weird looking coat with metal studs arranged in a pattern, which I assume is either a coat of plates (which wasn't historically introduced until centuries later), or studded leather armor (which is an invention of low budget costume designers in movies).

Yeah the Christian forces even wear 16th century Morion helmets as well, and the shields look like they're made out of paper mache, what a joke. Β The whole shows wardrobe department were likely typical Hollywood formula hacks who had no regard for historical accuracy.Β

Yeah, I thought I saw what looked like Morion Helmets in it. Some of them seemed to wear Roman style armor as well. I swear the Christian soldiers are composed of time travelers from different time periods centuries apart. Next thing you know, they have T-800 Terminators.

We have all this make believe stuff on the fucking HISTORY CHANNEL! Which means that a lot of viewers are going to take it as actual fact. That is scary.
