Description A couple of years back I thought to make some drawings about the most improbable matchups that I knew that there was no chance at all at ever seeing from the major comic book publishers.

My first piece was Wolverine vs. Darth Maul, with backgrounds behind each to show the Danger Room and other Astonishing X-men members behind Wolverine, and showing the young Obi-Wan Kenobi force pushing Darth Maul down the shaft at the end of Episode 1.

I thought to even the field between these improbable combatants by having Darth Maul using Force Lightning.

Now, everybody loved the idea, but I had this drawing for sale for over 2 years with no one interested in it.

So, I colored it. When coloring this, I decided to eliminate the background and concentrate on coloring the figures since I'm not really ready to color backgrounds just yet. I barely know enough to use the Blur and Lens flare functions...

So, let me know what you think about this one.

Sorry to say that I've retired this piece and will work on another VS image for this year. Iknow, half the year has bone by already and no new image! I've been busy...

Nice picture.

I'd give this to Wolverine. There are several substances known to be uncuttable or extremely durable to lightsabers. And since Adamantium is described as essentially indestructible, I see him taking several blows by Maul's saber and not getting cut through. And those several blows could make or break the fight for Maul.

You ever see the similarly themed piece in Wizard Magazine? It was in a feature about the same concept, last-man-standing kinda thing.

Must have been many years ago, because they haven't had a Last man Standing in about 3 years or more. I've been subscribed to the mag for at least that long...

That'd be about right, Pat Lee did the art for it if I recall. It was definately not a recent piece by any means, this just reminded me of it because of the same subject... Adamantium vs lightsabers, where does it go wrong?

This is a great piece of work. Now to answer your questions of what I think of this. If Wolverine has the Adamantium then he would win, if he doesn't then he will be a pile of evenly sliced parts compliments of the coolest weapon in any galaxy, far far away or not, the Lightsaber.

Well the guy that played Toad in the X Movie()#1) was the same guy that played Maul(You see a hint of Maul after Toad Kicks Storm down the elevator shaft and toad removes the staff). And well that aside, Maul can't regenerate and Logan can(even after being roasted to bare bones he came back(bet that felt good in the morning after)). So Maul has something of a disadvantage, that being whatever Maul takes damage he keeps it but, when Logan gets hurt it can almost instantly be healed. Though it would be somewhat of a fair fight regardless.

I just think that the equalizer here is the lightsaber, able to cut through all substances. One slice, and immortal Wolverine spends some years in an Imperial torture chamber...
