An epic masterpiece I made for the fanfiction of "Borra: Beginnings" made by moonlitinuyasha1985

Reading her fanfiction was impressive, to be honest, it was constructed a lot better than the official episode Nickelodeon aired. So these writers devised a way to revamp Legend of Korra's least favorite season into an exhilerating experience, casing point, the episode regarding the origins and mythos of the first Avatar, Wan.
I like how they included the idea of a person who could enchant and control spirits before Unalaq, who's is as powerful as Avatar Wan but with a superior god-complex mentality rather than have Vaatu become straight-up evil just like in the show. Enter Kira, shown in the center of the image as the villain in Avatar Wan's time who actually separated both Raava and Vaatu in their never-ending battle which disrupted the balance rather than Wan himself who didn't know better at the time making it worse for everyone.
What is also cool is that the writers of this fanfiction episode added the Shijin, the four deities in both Chinese and Japanese mythology, are the sovereign rulers of the Spirit World.
In case anyone doesn't know what the Shijin are, here is a link detailing each of their information:

To even give you a clockwise-view clue on who the Shijin are from the fan-art piece I made:
Byakko is the White Tiger (West)
Genbu is the Black Tortoise (North)
Seiryuu is the Azure or Blue Dragon (East)
Suzaku is the Vermillion Phoenix (South)
When watching mid-way thru Season 2, I always wondered if there was an existence of a higher being or beings? Sure there were powerful spirits, reincarnation, karma and fortune-telling, but not entities that sired all life and creation in the Avatar universe. I wonder why no-one has talked about deities and religion in the Avatar franchise? In addition, it is awesome that the Shijin act as guides and mentors to Avatar Wan's journey rather than have all spirits blame him for everything, resulting Wan to become a human punching bag. Ugh.
Anyway, instead of Raava the embodiment of good and Vaatu the embodiment of evil, rather let the two great spirits be represented as just normal siblings fighting endlessly for balance, kind of like Skoll and Hati from Norse Mythology, Sun and Moon, Day and Night, etc.
So the art piece I made has more of a vibrant feel in terms of colors with a chaotic setup since this takes place in the final fight scene of the episode, except it's Kira as the villain. What doesn't change though is that Raava is still waning in power whereas Vaatu is growing uncontrollably, even though both Genbu and Seiryuu tried to pacify him earlier.
So this image takes place in the Spirit World in the center of the Tree of Time after Wan threw the first punch leading Kira to fight back along with sending the dark spirits as his army, meaning that this is way before Wan yearning to fuse with Raava allowing him to bend multiple elements.
The Shijin are helping Avatar Wan, Raava and Vaatu to fight back Kira and the dark spirits while they are placed in their respective directions according to the image while random dark spirits are binding them away to attack their demented master.
I had the idea of both Raava and Vaatu shooting laser beams instead of just Vaatu alone, even though Raava was shown earlier to be small enough to fit inside a tea kettle, I wanted her to regrow a little bit trying to shoot her laser directly towards Kira's dark serpent spirit by the tail, which would in turn decimate the creature but later weaken back to her small self.
Byakko on the left is shown trying to hover his way through a blanket of clouds to get to Kira although being knocked by a dark spirit on the side, Genbu above is trying to reach him whereas the snake binding him tries to gnaw free of the dark spirit clawing on his shell, Seiryuu on the right trying to breathe a water typhoon to ward off any incoming dark spirits and Suzaku on the bottom flying his way to get to the villain yet gets pulled back by a dark spirit, piercing its wings.
Drawing Kira was a bit difficult, to me at first his persona was likened to Ozai but without the constraints in wanting to destroy anyone and anything in his path without any consequence. According to the author, "Kira wears orange and gold robes that were stolen from Chou Palace. He has a scarred face...A jagged slash/streak one [like Tanjiro from Demon Slayer]...His skin is completely white, with stark black dreadlocks [Full Metal Alchemist], and his eye colors are yellow."
I wanted to play around in making this character, so all that Kira wears a compilation of all the robes and garments he killed and stole from the Chou family, even the collections of belt buckles and sashes worn by him with a giant blood streak shows that Kira is a psychotic character not to be trifled with. And also like Ozai in Avatar: The Last Airbender, he can also perform jet propulsion and versatile aerial firebending moves with relative ease as shown. Even though this project took me more than two months to make, it was worth the rewards in finishing it!
Please let me know what you think of my design of this masterpiece!
