Redesign of Gabriel from Dan LuVisi’s Last Man Standing, done for the contest over at Art Fight Club: www.patreon.com/ArtFightClub?t…
I wanted to show Gabe as old and broken, maybe mentally ill. He’s lived the sort of life that would take quite a large toll on anyone.
I had so much fun working on this and I struggled a huge amount, but I’m very glad I did, because now I know where to focus my studying. I really tried to push myself and improve my storytelling. Also I managed to be chosen as a runner up!!

completely visceral. over the top. gritty. dirty. hearkens to a time when abuse of the elderly or the mentally deficient was normal. you can feel the tension. you can almost smell the train car. it's almost too much. i can feel fear, i can feel hate. i can hear the words rasping from the attackers throat. there is nothing comfortable here. there is no safety, there is no escape. you're going to make me watch this.
it makes me uncomfortable. extremely uncomfortable. i almost want to know what happens, just to make sure nothing happened, even though i know exactly what's going to happen...
and oh my gawd, do i love it!

I have never wanted to jump into a picture more than now. Someone put a gun to Hawking's head and make him find a way into that universe because I want to go mental and start stabbing those bastards.

I like how at a cursory look you can tell that the old man is homeless and not all there in the head, but really wants to be some kind of armored action hero or something.
And then I saw at all the little references to Gabriel, and then scrolled down to the description to find out that he actually is him lol
I like all the little details, and I think you did a good job at portraying what he would be like as a real-life, old, delusional man

Have not read the book (I think it is a book, correct me if I'm wrong) But this is great, the detail, the everything. Love the newspaper, the fact that he drew himself, that old Gabe made a triangle on his helmet and the little "No knives" sign. Bravo.
