Description A coloured version of a picture I did two years ago...

Ash is confronted by a vicious canoriek, a predatory species native to the fields of Juubai.

Pose referenced from Jedi Knight. Background photo used with permission. 2H and mechanical pencils, kneadable eraser, tortillon, Adobe PhotoShop 6.0. Age 15/17, I believe... *can't remember how old she was when she first drew it*

He looks like an Kajhitt (SP?)
(Then again any Anthro Cat looks like one)

Heh, yeah, some of the early art of this character was based on/inspired by Morrowind models :b

Everyone says Morrowind is one of the best games in the series. But I don't a X-Box and all the PC versions are long out of print so unless I order one from Amazon I have no way of playing it.

Don't get it for console (PS or XBox) - the Elder Scroll games are far superior on PC. You get access to the console for when the game bugs or if you want to tweak things without restarting the game or making a new characters, and you also get access to the modding community and ability to tweak just about anything in the game you'd like and make your own custom world. Plus the "shooter style" of playing with mouse+keyboard gives you way more speed and control than using a console controller.

Yes, Morrowind is a great game, although I never was able to get very far in it. I didn't much like how the mechanics of gameplay worked (I didn't like how magic worked, and I wanted to play a pure rogue, which just isn't feasible because sneak and archery both sucked without hours and hours of farming), really, but I seem to be in the minority, but the story/culture seemed really flavourful and engaging.

I actually think Skyrim gives Morrowind a run for its money, although there are some old-school features to Morrowind that Skyrim lacks - Skyrim suffers a bit from modern-gaming over-simplification, which some old-school hardcore gamers complain about.

If that's what you like then that's great But I don't care about modding.

With PC, I would have to keep getting more memory, upgrading my computer and updating graphics cards, etc... but with console you just put the game in and start playing.
Saving me over 200 dollars.

Though (I do) own Oblivion for PC and it runs much much smoother than the PS3 version. But Skyrim I prefer having on the PS3 because it just seems more convienant at the moment.

Ahh, yeah. I suppose if you don't already have a good gaming computer, it's not worth it.

It "Might" work, but the graphics are so intense I don't want to risk buying it just to find out that I can't play it.

Also PS3 and X-Box have trophies and achievements

So does the PC

And yeah, Skyrim is really quite graphics-intensive, although in the end, it'll look better on a good gaming PC than on console. It's true, though - my laptop can play Skyrim, but not very well. Kinda sucks that it doesn't look as amazing as it does on my boyfriend's computer ;_; SO BEAUTIFUL. Made me just want to play so I could walk around the forests and look at stuff :b

I agree with you there.

-No Hi-Def on my TV
-Small Cheap TV
-Crappy small cheap TV
-Crappy small cheap TV where the sides are slightly cut off

Okay I am buying it for PC

jocarra In reply to Dartpaw86 [2012-01-08 23:50:31 +0000 UTC]

lol - our TV, too! It's not terribly small, but it's old and crappy, and the sides are slightly cut off :b We were saving up to get a really nice flatscreen, but then we found out we may be moving to England (where electronics work kinda different), so the new TV wouldn't even work there... so now we're in crappy TV limbo XD It's not that bad, though - we're used to it, at least :b

Dartpaw86 In reply to jocarra [2012-01-09 00:01:35 +0000 UTC]

Sorry about that, we have a flatscreen but it's going in the Living room when we bring it over (We just moved) and we're not allowed to play videogames up there.
(My mom despises wires all over the place)

But then again my mom never cared about picture and she's getting used to the TV she's watching now so we might bring it down, we just don't know yet. Heck we might just sell it.

Heh, fair enough - can't really complain about rules for the flatscreen if you didn't buy it :b Still kinda sucks, though.

Wow, really great! Mechanical pencils colored over in photoshop! I can see the texture! So I guess you use color layers behind the tone/greyscale layer and adjust transparency then? Anyway, really impressive; looks like computer animation, it's so smooth.

jocarra In reply to Warmaster [2004-09-24 23:37:06 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... How did I make this? I believe I actually used "multiply" and "screen" on top of the original b/w, although I'd have to check to be sure *laughs* because I don't really remember for sure. Wow, computer animation ... Thanks for the compliment!

Ash - Canoriek Battle coloured is simply amazingly executed in every single way imaginable. I really like the effect of the blurred background indicating movement. Once again - great work!

You go too far...

It's funny. It's a piece that began probably back in 1999. Then I did a redo of it. Then two years later or so, I coloured it, and here it is .

AMAZING work!!! you've even managed to leave the impression of motion because of the blurring of the background and grass :eyepop: Your characters are totally full of motion, and shaded sooooo magnificently. I love the texture of the main character's skin...and the jaws of the preditor...*I am humbled*...Please (I read your journal)...please do this professionally, they need people who can really capture what they see!!!!...You'll go far!!!!

Aww, one of the best compliments you could give! Thanks a lot! Actually, I'd be pretty terrified if these creatures existed... I mean, the wolfy canoriek would be a nasty bugger to run into!

Very well done, don't care for the spike on the creatures back though. I think it's a little destracting. I think more should be focused on the claw that he's about to swipe with.

this is amazing! also, the texture of the background (the rushing-wind effect) makes it look as though their entire world is imploding around them! Beautiful detail. A very imaginative piece, and the colours are great
