A very special commission for BerettaFusion, who lost his brother this holiday season and wanted something with which to commemorate him - he chose the moment when he first found out, just outside his truck, except with his brother there in spirit to comfort him. I imagined, then, a kind of duality between the painful emptiness of his brother's passing, and the idea of having a loving guardian angel to watch over him - to try to convey this, while the grey, overcast sky takes up the majority of the image, I wanted the clouds to also vaguely represent wings. I also worked closely with shots of his truck and his driveway provided to me - the truck photos in particular were essential to this turning out as well as it did.Rest in peace, and my admiration to Beretta for the strength and bravery he's shown in this difficult time. Thanks again for being great to work with <3

This one leaves me speechless. Β Though the surroundings were different, this reminds me of the night I learned of the passing of my Father during my first semester in college, back in 1993. This is one of your most powerful pieces. Β I especially like how you handled the cloud formations. Β At first glance I thought they were wings, but on closer inspection saw that they were formations in the clouds shaped to give the impression of wings - I got all that was said there immediately. Β Brilliantly done, incredibly touching.

No, the client wanted me to illustrate the moment he found out his brother died - he was pulling into his driveway on an overcast winter day and just getting out of his truck when he got the phone call.
