Description Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms , a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.

Another classic monster, although the art director asked if I could add a few personal touches - I decided to draw inspiration from rhinos a little to give his head a more interesting overall shape, plus rhino hide is pretty hardcore, so I thought it was fitting.

I agree, the rhino-like skin is fitting for such a beast

wow, your drawings are simply awesome. But tell me, how long do you need to do such work in general? how many do you draw per month? and finally how many years of education do you have to learn how to make such beauty, or if it's an autodidactwhich site or what have you use method to learn to do that?

Thank you so much

My Endless Realms images take anywhere from 3-8 hours, but usually around 5ish.  My more realistic "best work" takes anywhere from 10-30 hours.

I draw an average of 13-14 ER bestiary images a month, usually, plus often one additional illustration for the Corebook, and one additional freelance image.  Since you're curious, here is a compilation of every picture I produced last year - 2015 Art Summary - it works out to me making to one finished picture every second day, if you exclude all weekends but don't give me any vacations :b

I'm self-taught - in fact, I have a bachelors degree in animal biology, not art :b  But I've always practiced art and have been taking commissions for over 10 years.  I don't really use instructional books or read tutorials much, but just look at a lot of art and always have, and over the years it's just sort of accumulated into a general knowledge.

Your head design also takes care of that lovely issue of 'how to have an eye over the bridge bump of the nose and look natural' that happens with many previous illustrations.  Well done, and yes, rhino hide is very tough!

Yup :b  Tried to give him a bit more of a unique face, though, at least!
