This Gnoll takes the step in the direction of their actual inspiration, the hyenas. Typically hyenas are always denigrated as 'scavengers who steal from lions' when in actuality the hyenas are the hunters rather than the lions most of the time. Perhaps this Gnoll is a female leader and controls the pack, as with hyenas in their matriarchal society, as in the description she had acquired the hide of an Ulvar Kyr. Perhaps instead of collecting it, she had slain the Ulvar Kyr in single combat, thus proving herself worthy enough to wear its skin and use its claws.
Anyway, good work on the design.

Yes, that was exactly the thought process I had behind the design. I'm not in control of lore/writing/how the creature will actually be implemented, but if gnoll society is anything like hyena society, it would probably be, as you said, matriarchal. And yeah, I had actually imagined the gnoll here had earned the Ulvar skin, rather than just "found" it somewhere :b but left it open to interpretation.
Thanks!

FIERCE
Makes sense that, in order to survive, they would take bodyparts of other creatures

I am amused that your description brought to mind the Star Trek: Next Generation species called 'Ferengi'; small, underestimated, and opportunistic.
I love how this one is depicted; definitely not someone to mess with!

Hehe, glad to hear it. I only have run into them once in a campaign, I think - a gnoll sniper laughed at us when a party member failed his climb check trying to get at him, and instead took a whole bunch of falling damage :b

An archer :b Had a really good spot, we couldn't get to him easily, and his buddies got in our way.
