Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms , a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.In my opinion, one of the tougher monsters to design this block! Although it's not apparent from the image, the xyl'r is rather like a cross between the Lich King and the Zerg: at some point infected by undeath, or perhaps its undeath was "evolved", the xyl'r are undying and cannot be killed, only destroyed. They siphon and command spiritual energy around them, animating nearby corpses and literally sucking the life out of those around them, reducing them to soulless, undead thralls.
