Speaking of shippers, between this page and the last page, I’m probably driving some of you folks nuts… I apologize for nothing though.
As for Maria’s interpretation of Rain’s beloved manga… Well, you guys can just have fun with that one too, just like the last page. Just try not to think too hard about it. ^_^

As a manga fan, I've learned to kind of trust the artist most of the time. Sometimes you think its totally predictable at volume 2 only to find that there are still curve balls to be thrown. In someway those will always be the most exciting parts of the piece. And since I'm not sure how many volumes of Kaminari are out at this point, I'm sure Rain still has a lot to read as well.
But thinking of it in this way. If Aneko represents Maria, who really knows if she is interpreting another part of Rain's life. Sure its natural for girls to fall in love with boys, but the point of love is to be with someone that makes you feel safe and happy. So at this point for Rain and Kaminari, that can be anyone at this point (we are in chapter 3 after all).
I also wish to point out these pages weren't a waste of time. If anything you added a layer of interest to story that no other GLBT story wouldn't have had and in someway made more emotionally real because of it. I'm probably not the first, I'm glad to say I'm happy you think the way you do.
(and for sympathy for Maria, I have a broken gay-dar as well. And it passed its Best Buy warrenty)

OK, how in the world does Rain not know what gaydar is? I mean, some people rely on it too much, but practically everyone past puberty I've met has known what gaydar is. I mean, she's on the LGBT spectrum, has no-one ever dropped the term around her before? Not even Aunt Fara?

Rain IS pretty largely detached from most people in all fairness, so there's actually probably a lot of terms she's never heard. That said, I will admit Aunt Fara MUST have mentioned the term around her. She must've. This is Fara we're talking about. It is entirely possible Rain just thought it was something "only Aunt Fara would say", and dismissed it thinking she'd never hear it again... obviously leading to much surprised hearing the word from Maria's mouth. ^_^

Meh, I've seen gaydars not be so reliable, anyway. Especially when they lack a vital setting that causes some epic thwartage. Not a PERSONAL experience mind you, but I have my reasons to believe in the account.

Aneko looks extremely crosseyed, so no offense taken. It's the same image from the previous page where she was raging at Hokori. It basically looks fine IN context, but looks awful OUT of context unfortunately. I just can't win.

Oh, Maria, you've yet to learn that you don't have to respect a character's apparent sexual orientation in regards to shipping. Shipping's not about being right, it's about being the most rabid and the most LOUD. Disregard reasoning, produce doujins.
Also, I enjoy Rain's complete disregard for everything girl/girl related. It's like lesbian relationships don't exist in the enchanted forest that's growing inside her little brain. I predict that Maria will bark up each and every tree in said enchanted forest, until she realizes that she'd have an easier time trying to explain why she's making a rather large impression on the same type of chair that Rain has absolutely no effect on the shape of. And...they're the same height (character profiles ftw) and body type, so I don't get it. Maybe before these two arrived, the love child of Al Roker and Sally Struthers was sitting in the chair now occupied by Maria, reading their newly-purchased volumes of Yumeiro Patissiere and Yakitate Japan, and the chair never corrected itself before Maria's arrival. Or the cushion on Rain's chair is stuffed with bricks.
....Wow, I'm just dishing out the snark, left right and center.

Actually, Maria's chair was slashed and had the cushion taken out by teenagers that thought they were being cool and rebellious or something.
(That sounds believeable, right? Maybe no one will notice I just made that up now to cover up an art mistake I completely overlooked. Ha! I'm so slick.)

I totally hate it in a manga when there are people I think should be together but aren't. It makes me wanna yell but then I realize that every1 in a mile radius wuld be able to hear my rage.

I'm usually okay with how most couples end up, so I'm not really much of a shipper myself. And even in the rare event that I'm not pleased with who ends up with who, I still tend to remain pretty respectful to the original writer's idea.
That said, I'd be lying if there weren't a handful of instances that make me rage.
