Yesyesyes! After a childhood watching rage-maddened Catholic clerics dishonor even the pettiest positions when placed over innocent children, I had no model of morality really available to me other than what I got from Kurosawa's and Inagaki's movies, and Samurai honor always seems to involve ripping our bellies to some degree in its operation...Bother!
I'm guessing that the senior cleric's explanations are foreshadowed by another character's (inherited.) propensity for psychotic anger. And I _did_ meet a priest a decade ago who wasn't a raving misogynist...but he's not a priest any more, strangest thing....
Great thing about 10th grade when I voluntarily withdrew from the Catholic prep school and entered a lovely old public high school....it's like growing up in the Dark Ages, then one day you wake up, and Leonov and White are _really_ dancing the sky on laughter's silvered wings! It's the clerical authority at a regional level for a church/a priest (if I right). Every ordonned people is under responsibility of a diocese, as a district is for, say, police officers.

Overall, glad to see Brother Arthur going above his boss's head to the diocese. Lawsuits regarding negligence and physical violence to children are probably not something that the church wants to see after that whole thing that really blew up in the early 2000s, even if the violence is being perpetuated by another child. Beyond simply being the loving Christian organization they are supposed to be, the Catholic Church kinda has an allergic reaction to bad press around children nowadays.
I do wonder if Brother Arthur suspected there was gross negligence happening and didn't do anything about it (possibly out of a lack of evidence or concern that the issues wouldn't be taken seriously) or that he didn't really notice the issue coincidentally. I mean, Rudy has been bullied and physically assulted for two years and the staff overall did nothing, but considering Brother Arthur's job as assistant principal over a school with a decent sized student body, he might have just not seen the obvious injuries until fairly recently, and if Rudy didn't go to him directly, other teachers might have just ignored the issue because they didn't care. It's the best explanation, as he certainly doesn't seem the type to ignore such a massive issue.

Given that Todd has been harassing girls, and in at LEAST one case HURTING her, the Diocese will HAVE to do something. If they don't do something,the backlash that will be coming form the rest of the parents will hurt them. Maybe not a lot. But it will.

Honestly, I really would like to hear Father Quenton's explanation. At the moment, it seems very one-sided, which feels a little... cheap? Don't get me wrong, I love the story and hate Father Quenton just as much as the next guy, but I want some meat, ya know?

In real life the diocese will put Father Quinton on a sabbatical until he meets with the magesterium to discuss disciplinary action in accordance with the Code of Canon Law. After the trial he will either be released from public ministry or just fired from the district as a principle. All is done privately to avoid scandal.

He did the right thing. I bet everyone really wants to know the reason behind this special treatment. Relative of the headmaster? I actually do hope there's some backstory behind his and Todd's situation that makes it at least understandable, if not acceptable. Characters that are evil for the sake of being evil are boring. Even the devil thought he was doing the right thing, after all.
