Since my brother broke his camera that I used to borrow to take pictures of my minatures I'm gonna show some older ones like one of my favorites, mY hive tyrantFunny note thanks to this guy or girl can't really decide if I want to give them gender or have them genderless I came in third in a close painting contest last year.

How do you paint the skin? I am looking for a more effective way of painting white flesh for my tyranids

Well it's quite simple work with only 2 colors first i paint bleached bone and washes and then bleached bone again to fix the wash that' on the actual skin. For the actual skin it's bleached bone and then a 50-50 mix of bleached bone and skull white and leaving a bit of the bleached bone showing in the cracks and low point in the flesh. Finally i take pure skull white with quite a lot of water and paint on just the higher points of the flesh leaving a little of the mix stay just like the 1st step and i do this 2-3 times depending on how much I water out the skull white.

Also, how do you blend in the carapace colors? Do you just do a wash? Or so you use a retarder to wet blend?

Yeah I could make make a guide or something with pictures step by step how I paint them. Now the carapace is just spikes painted on the black about halway in then highlights leaving the purple showing a bit when I paint on a brighter layer of liche purple and grey 50-50 mix and then a final with added white.
