Description Just, hypothetically speaking... if I were a professional novelist, instead of a cartoonist, and I had the opportunity to do a Doctor Who book, I would really like to fool around with the "other" Ninth Doctors who popped up here and there while the show was in limbo. And if I did, this could be the front cover. And the back cover would read something like...

"I'll explain later, Alison..."

Sometimes seconds trip over themselves. Sometimes time doubles back. Like a crowded beach, tracks in the sand become confused and sometimes you can't tell which footprints were yours and which were made by someone else. And then you notice you're alone...
It generally falls to Time Lords to iron out the wrinkles when causality becomes indecisive. But The Doctor's on his own now, the last of his kind, and what's worse, he seems to be the focus of the problem. How can he decide what's selfish and what isn't when there are two alternatives staring him in the face, and the worlds they represent are rich and tempting and... crowded?
There are three Doctors in a room, and one of them is alone. One of them is terrifically bored with it all, and the other one doesn't like the smell of oblivion.
Two of them are going to die. And the third one thinks he might want to.
Why can't anything ever be simple where time is concerned? It was hard enough going up and down it, to say nothing of side-to-side...

For those of you who don't know what the Hell I'm on about, here's a little history. In 1989 the original series of Doctor Who ended (after a remarkable 26 year run), and remained ended for quite some time. In 1996, however, there was a brief attempt to revive the series with Paul McGann as the eighth actor to officially portray the title character, though unfortunately it didn't take flight. But the world moved on, and in 1999 a British charity aired a telethon which included a comical take on Doctor Who starring Rowan Atkinson as, apparently, the Ninth Doctor. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously, but for a starved fandom it was a breath of fresh air. Yet later still, in 2000, the BBC's online departments threw together something which was meant to be taken seriously - an animated "webcast" of the Doctor's continuing adventures, this time with Richard E. Grant lending his voice and likeness to the character. Though in cartoon form, this was in fact intended to be the canonical Ninth Doctor... until Christopher Eccleston was announced as the star of the long-awaited live action revival! It seems that the BBC's left hand didn't know what its right was doing, and so the would-be cartoon Doctor was quietly shunted into the background as the new show went into production. The Doctor's now well into his tenth persona, but the curious circumstance of having had three Ninth Doctors has always intrigued me. So... I made this.
The end.

Go write this now. Put it on Fanfiction or something. I'm kinda sick of the majority of Doctor Who fics on Fanfiction being Doctor/Rose reunion fics so I'd like to see some more actual novel-styled adventures, especially with Non-canon doctors.

Man, write the book! I'll buy it. Freaking awesome idea. Atkinson's Doctor rocked. Justifiably self-assured, rather charming, but a strong penchant for causing himself trouble. Quite like Black Adder 2. Richard E Grant is both the Alt Doc 9 and Alt Doc 10, heh. Actually everybody was great in Fatal Death, and I wanna see a cannon female doctor some time.

Seriously, write the book.

Thanks! Though after the 50th anniversary, I'm probably going to have to re-do it.  Well, when I can work on stuff that I'm not being paid for, that is!

My favorite Ninth Doctor was Rowan Atiskon. (Probably didn't spell that right, now did I?)

I think I'd be quite amused if Rowan Atkinson actually played the Doctor. Have you ever watched the Mr. Bean Christmas special? Don't worry, it's relevant.

Oh, I know Mr. Bean. Actually, some people say I have an uncanny resemblance. Y'know, I believe he did audition for the Seventh Doctor before McCoy took the role.

Very interesting and very awesome. I have sadly not been able to view anything featuring the Shalka Doctor or Alternate 9th. Would like to see stuff with them, especially the Shalka Doctor.

Great work here though, I likey.

You can find all six episodes of his webcast online at Youtube. Richard E. Grant was fantastic as The Doctor, and Derek Jacobi was epic as The Master. I recommend it.

On top of being a great piece this idea would be "fantastic" and something the BBC should give serious consideration too. I think it would be a refreshing take on the multi-Doctor story. Well done!!

I've seen "Shalka" and "Fatal Death," and I must say, I really wanted to stab Grant's Doctor with a spork very badly. >_< But I loved Atkinson's Doctor; he was fabulous. The idea of all three meeting...yowza. Awesome.

I always knew the Doctor's history in our media was complicated, but this baffles me.

Excellent job on the expressions...I like how they've all got their hands on their jackets.
