Description Before you ask, no, I'm not planning to produce a whole Doctor Who doujinshi or anything like that. I don't think. Maybe a page or two here and there, maybe. But making comic covers is fun, I've got another one in the works already. Even though this one was really hard work! That's how I know it's fun!
Anyway, the hypothetical scenario for this incarnation's beginning adventures involves Gabrielle Verbeaux, a slightly mousy but adventuresome young journalist (who I guess I sexied up a bit for the cover image). Her brother is the project leader of a daring experiment utilizing salvaged technology from the many alien invasions of Earth to create a tentative portal into the space/time Vortex. He supervises the construction of a jury-rigged launching point for the world's first "chrononauts" and invites his sister into the project to document its progress. Which she does, until - all together now - Something Goes Wrong. Things rip out of control and the installation is destroyed, but not before sending Gabrielle and Gabriel (yeah, their parents thought that was clever) tumbling into the vacuum. They lose hold of each other and go spinning wildly through oblivion, Gabrielle falls helplessly until she approaches a bright light framed in blue...
She awakens from a deep sleep to find herself in strange yet comfortable surroundings, in a place which seems to defy the laws of physics. Rooms shift, and doors open to spaces larger on the inside than on the outside (it's all very "2001"-esque). As she explores she catches glimpses of an older man, milling around...
Well, that'd be pretty much the first issue. Or the first part of the first issue. Do you want to know the rest of the premise? Well, this is getting kind of long... ah, I'll save the rest for later. If you're interested.
Oh and I guess I should mention, Doctor Who belongs to the BBC. Or whatever.

So I just rediscovered this cover. I remember when you first posted it; I was somewhat intrigued by the backstory, but the obvious pop culture reference was not so obvious to me so I shrugged and went back to reading Zebra Girl.
Now that I'm older and wiser and a rabid fan of all things Doctor Who, I appreciate this exponentially more. Thank you for dreaming it up and getting it on the 'Nets for the rest of us to admire.

I can't help but speculate on the fact that this doctor and the one who just showed up in Zebra Girl are pretty similar.... *speculate*

Also, great cover. I like how you managed to have several "layers" of images without the whole page getting too crowded.

Yeah! Woot! Doctor Who!
Tom Baker rocks!
*start's humming theme*

(Is a complete Doctor Who nut)

It sometimes gets me that no-one knows WHO he is.
Nice to know that you do!

I never really watched the show, but you got me with "2001-esque." I'm digging your sci-fi work, in my opinion your style seems to jive with the theme really well.

Wow, not only are you a fantastic artist, but you also have excellent taste in science fiction series .

I've always loved your poses, and this is an exceptional example. Definitely has a great sense of movement not only within the female form, but also in the singular hand. Awesome work!

Yup, Nothing like messing with the very fabric of the universe. They never see that whole "Something Goes Wrong." scenario do they? But, really, it could be very useful, closets bigger on the inside than the outside? I oculd shove ALL my junk in there....

Hey guys, I modified the image a bit, hopefully for the better. Hope that's okay. Let me know what you think, I'm glad to consider this a work in progress.

Yes! More! Plot fascinates me as I have only a tenacious grasp of it, and I think its a great start!

As to the image, I can only say that the Police Box seems odd in the way that the light streams downward, when all three of the figures (ok, two figures and a hand) are kinda floaty and spacy and anti-grav.. It looks great though! I know I'd buy that comic.

Y'know, I could leave a comment on how the issue premise sounds solid, on how the picture is a nice little bit of comic splashpaginess, or on how your image of the Doctor is, in my mind, pretty much the visual incarnation of the Doc's attitude... but I'm not. All I'm gonna say is...

TARDIS RULES, beeyatch!

That is all.

What ever happened to gear bunny? Do another one of those covers!

If anything, make another line like "GREAT SPIT!" so I'll have something impressive and reflective to put down as my "I have no clue" essay answer on my psych final

*shrug* guess I could always say "I have no answer because corrupt comic writers have eroded my brain and social skills", but I've already said enough smack about you and england as it is. (or have I?)
