This fractal has got soooooooooo many things to look at, and all in one image! WOWSA!!!

I like it, and took this long to reply to it, as i simply had to go and look at it over and over again, before deciding what to say about it... but then again... i cannot really say what i can see in this gorgeous fractal of yours

This is really great. I love how the more knowedgable users are getting textures in their flames. I'm still trying to get a better handle on the new progam the "gang" has written. I downloaded flam3 but havent' the foggiest notion how to use it. Is there a tut somewhere? This dummy doesn't even know where to begin!

Thanks for the

I use flam3 (rendering only) because I render on my linux machine. If you don't have a problem using the internal Apophysis renderer then I suggest you just keep using it. Flam3 on windows is a bit different than Linux. I don't know exactly how to do it, but there are some directions in the readme file if you want to use it.

Oh, you have a Linux. I'll try the readme, but only if it isn't written in TechnoGeek! I'm an older woman (good grief, it won't be too many years before I'm going to have to change the spelling of that word)who's comp skill are self-taught. The internal render works well for me, but I thought there might be a difference in the quality of the render. So far I haven't found anyone that can give me that answer. Sometimes I think that I try stuff that I really don't need just to keep up with the kids. *shame on me*

My brother =MichaelFaber does very well with the internal renderer. If there is a quality difference it is very minute. If I were you, I wouldn't bother with flam3

ArtistInWaiting In reply to JoelFaber [2006-07-07 12:01:34 +0000 UTC]

I'm going to take your advice and stick to learning the new Beta better. Apparently the internal renderer is a modified flam3 anyhow. I haven't figured out the flam3song setting yet. And is "multiple threads" for larger renders? Sorry to ask so many questions, the List doesn't help me much. It seems to be helpful for those who already know what they are doing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JoelFaber In reply to ArtistInWaiting [2006-07-08 04:53:14 +0000 UTC]

Multiple threads is useful if you have a "dual core", "multi processor" or "hyper threaded" computer. The only computers that have these features are fairly high end newer computers. If you don't have one of these computers it is probably better to leave it disabled.

Ah I see. Thanks for the info, I just have a simple little P4 like most people, so I'll ignore the thread thingy. Think I played with it once and the setting ignored me!
