Oh yes, your drawings that fail to fill the page look so much better with some black around them - or perhaps green or purple. This is what you should do with "octopus" and "the agony of individualism" and "vision while laying in hammock" and "everwatching."

The octopus image was actually just the center part of another picture. I just loaded the full version hereΒ  . The others that you mentioned I preferred leaving the white space around them. They are all large drawings and the white is very effective, especially after having two or three mats, a frame and glass added. My purpose is not to make them look good on a monitor but rather, in person. The one you mentioned, fungal growth, actually is probably one of my least favorite little drawings and I believe I ended up just throwing that away. Conversely, the Vision... piece is priced at $5000 (or twice that Β in a gallery) and I have sold made more than that just from prints. I do use color fairly routinely, but the reasons for my drawing and painting have more to do with feeling at the time, and colors used are to convey my various moods. So, I would not put them in after the fact to potentially enhance an image for online viewing. The drawings as they are done are a statement of who I was at the time. White space or lack of white space is all part of that. So, although I appreciate your comments, they in no way reflect what I should do. I already have done what I should do. If that makes sense.Β

Perhaps "should" was the wrong word. I just think they would look better for me; the color fits who I am at the time. I have neither the money nor the wall space for any of these right now, and I added them to my favorites gallery anyways even with their "imperfection," so by all means do what you must.Β

oh, sorry, I cheated on the background and did it in photoshop, although sometimes I paint it with india ink or something similar, so as to get a good black.

Ok, i was just wondering. Oh india ink is great too, i've done some stuff (well not serious.....) when i was in primary school i guess, but i was thinking about giving it a try again. So if you have any advice...
