thanks very much. I guess my style is somewhat unique, probably because I am self taught and don't know anything...

Thanks, thats a wonderful compliment! I greatly appreciate it. Did you check out the finished one with all nine panels [link] ?
Now tell me how to make money with these things; usually I just finish things up and put them on the shelf somewhere (occasionally I enter them in some regional shows). Maybe someday I will retire from my day job and put my time into this art stuff full force. And, of course, I live in Mississippi, not exactly an art mecca. I rarely try to sell the larger things in this area because people seem to think the frame should cost more than the art. In some cases I have had people (that have money) offer me an amount that would equal about $2 an hour for my time, and they are taken aback when I say give them a price between $5000 and $25,000! Actually, I have no idea what to sell things for, and will need to figure that out someday. I have had luck with selling some prints to college students though!

It took me over 30 years to sell a piece of work ... and until the age of 54 to make a living at it, and i still struggle financially. However, I am steadily on the rise monetarily.
It would not matter where I live. I do almost everything through my computer. I hate being in crowds. However, I have had shows and may again, so take this with a grain of salt. One EXCELLENT source for sales is eBay. I have made tens of thousands of dollars on eBay. (And found MANY collectors for commissions) You also need a website dedicated to your artwork only. I checked yours out, and it is tied in with a school or something, ? You need to get name recognition. Get a domain with your name. Open accounts on 'myspace', FLICKR, Blog Spot, VOX, Live Journal. Do link exchanges with other websites once you build your own. (with me!) Start compiling a mailing list. Take out an account with 'Constant Contact' and do lots of shameless self-promotion. My point is get as many eyes on your work as you can. it's a numbers game.
Art is subjective. there will always be people who like it and not. So, it's a 'numbers game' get 100,000 eyes on your work a day and you WILL sell. I spend $5.00 a day sending traffic to my site, vomitus.com, with 'stumbleupon.com' ... That is traffic interested in Paintings at 5 cents per person, 100 people a day. $150.00 a month. If I sell one print at $150., it pays for itself.
That's another thing. I sell prints. Signed and numbered. Stretched canvas limited editions and small $25.00 prints too. (see = [link] ) Both through sites like DA, that do it for you and take a cut, (not very lucrative) AND prints that I make. I have a $2K printer, Epson 7800. It paid for itself in the first few months. Ebay sales ... You do not need to spend that much. get a high end printer that will do up to 13 x 19" prints. Get all your images and sell them on eBay. GET A PAYPAL ACCOUNT!
Work hard and self-promote. That's how I make a living being an artist. I work 14 hours a day 7 days a week - Some times I make minimum wage. I NEVER keep ANY of my art - Everything sells! Do not hoard your art! I did, and then my house burned down with all my art inside. THAT was a fu-king lesson!
At first you will just make "pocket money", but then you will see how to make more and more until one day you can dump that day job. I worked as a fu-king insurance salesman for 20 years!
I work like a fiend, and it's hard some times ... but I LOVE my work. People pay me to do what I consider fun! It's like I don't really work at all.
I hope this helps you. I don't even know your real name - I go by "Steve' to my friends.

Any advise on web hosting companies? Are any of these top ten places any good? like "bluehost", "HostMonster", etc.?

Well, you have me at least partially motivated, so I am leaning that way. Somebody else mentioned to me today that godaddy is decent, so that is two plugs for them!
