Looking good from the point of dynamic hair. But I think dynamic hair on the body is nice... for manes and such, but I suspect you'll get better results with a combed fur, as the way a fur lays on the body makes a big difference to how realistic it looks. Most fur doesn't just drop... it runs along the body too, even with fairly long hair. Especially the tail hair wouldn't just drop down. The shorter the fur, the more important the direction it falls. This guy is a shorthair shepherd, his fur would move more back than down.
Still, I would be tempted to use blender, but my previous attempts have been very frustrating as I never got along with its surface. I hear it is getting more...regularised for duds like me, maybe I should give it another shot.

Another alternative to combing is to use force fields

I finally became friends with blender but more for creation than making images. So at the moment hair is not in my line of learning.

There is still a lot to learn and tons of problems with this test. This is the result of just about a half hour of play and a 5 min render. I mainly just wanted to see if I could use some of the same hair techniques in Blender that I have been playing with in DAZ. I am loving the latest Blender 2.8 beta.Β Its much more user-friendly now and the hair options are so much better than anything in DAZ Studio (and even Carrara).Β More experiments should produce much better results.Β Β

Can you place an image with the wire mesh beside that one? I'm still learning.

I think you can place any image you want to use in Blender

So this the dog exported from and fully haired up in Blender?
or the Density map created in Blender and used in Daz?

JoePingleton In reply to GafftheHorse [2019-06-24 03:39:36 +0000 UTC]
It's exported from DAZ STudio into Blender. I just used the same density map I used in my DAZ SBH experiments to control the hair in Blender.
