Description Tonight's experiment with DAZ Studio and Iray examines the awesome free 3d model Summoner65's "Summoner's Cathedral Of Sorrow" from ShareCG.  I added a 300 knight's using UltraScatter Advanced Instancing for Daz Studio. I alsoadded a bunch of "Hero" figures dressed in many items from the DAZ store.

Great job 👍 especially with the ornament detail and how the soldiers have different poses

Thank you, I found out afterward that Summoner65's "Summoner's Cathedral Of Sorrow" is really a model the cathedral from Devil May Cry4. That's why its so detailed

Being a seasoned DMC player, it's very strange seeing the Sparda worship Cathedral being used like this (by those fantasy characters there). It doesn't look like this Summoner guy credited the original source of the design, whether he re-created the whole place himself or exported it from the game, it's a shame he doesn't give direct credit to the incredible designers at Capcom, and that it's technically a copyright violation that he's doing this (if people use it for profit, but I am unfamiliar with general copyright terms)

Thank you, I never played DMC. I found out afterward that Summoner65's "Summoner's Cathedral Of Sorrow" is really a model the cathedral from Devil May Cry4. This was mainly just a test to see if I could get this many figures in a scene at one time without crashing mu computer using Ultrascatter

That's pretty cool I imagine it's a whole other world doing 3d scenery and characters, and the toll it has on pc performance :/ Your renders are pretty amazing though, I plan to submit a few of your elven works to , if you will allow it of course

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement, I love your artwork too

Working in 3D allows me to do things much more complicated and sophisticated than I could ever draw by hand. It's a lot more like photography or playing with puppets Just set up the scene, light it, pose the characters and render. Unfortunately, I am limited by the 3D models that I have or have to create.

I didn't know that group existed, there are so many here that is hard to find them all. I don't do much elven artwork, but I love to look at them and it would be great to share my work with others.

You're very welcome! And thanks!

3D is indeed cool like that, wish I'd studied 3D modeling at a school or course at some point, it would be pretty sweet to dabble in it but checking out the programs myself gives me a headache without the knowledge to work them meanwhile I admire the amazing artists here who work in 3D

It's a fairly new group with a small yet-growing community Its aim being to collect the most beautiful works of elven females out here, in one group, for their sole celebration and for anyone's viewing pleasure at least I hope so.
Also welcome to the group! It's a pleasure to have you Enjoy

Yowsers, what an epic.

300 knights using Ultrascatter? - Just how much RAM have you to play with?

JoePingleton In reply to GafftheHorse [2019-01-25 03:14:04 +0000 UTC]

Thank you, That's the fun of Ultrascatter it only needed the RAM for the 5 different knight poses to make the 300.

I cannot belive this 3d model was free. The detail is just BEYOND for a freebie. Love what you've done with the scene and, thanks....you made me go and buy UltraScatter Advanced Instancing for Daz Studio. Not sure how or where I'll use it, but it looks really quite cool. Beautiful render.

Now did you read the news today | They say the danger's gone away | But I can see the fires still alight | They're burning into the night.
There's too many men | Too many people | Making too many problems | And not much love to go round | Can't you see this is a land of confusion.
This is the world we live in | And these are the hands we're given | Use them and let's st Have a blessed day! -Debra

That's a great work. Just to know, how much time for render it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JoePingleton In reply to Akarakak [2018-06-17 20:46:33 +0000 UTC]

Thank you,
It rendered fairly quick (15 min at 1920x1080).  I only used four M4 figures posed differently for the knights.   Summoner65's "Summoner's Cathedral Of Sorrow" renders very fast on it's own.  The trick was how to light such a big space (it may still be a little dark).  I spent the most time on the "Heroes", but decided to keep them simple because they were so small.
