Description My first experiment with DynCreator for DazStudio .  It's build for converting conforming clothes to dynamic clothes, but it seems to work on anything that can be converted to a prop.  In this experiment I used it on JoLab1985's "Liquid Pack" draped on a Genesis 3 female.

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement. I was concerned that it just looked like she was trapped in glue

How long did it take to evaluate the "cloth" for this? My machine is too slow for most dynamics, alas.

It took a little while, though not as much as I expected with all the points in the liquid model

Its really reasonably priced as well.  In the wishlist for now and I will be watching your experiments with it closely

You can't beat the price
I was trying last night to do something that's bothered me for a long time, which is to have hair that drapes when a figure is laying down, but it kept sliding off the head. more experiments to come

Yes, that's a huge failing of hair in Studio.  I look very closely at morphs before I buy anymore.  the best hair I have found for stuff like that is SAV's zero gravity hair at rendo.

Nihil-Novi-Sub-Sole [2017-01-17 06:09:08 +0000 UTC]

Nice render and funny picture!

I see you have tested DynCreator! It's a very useful script as it enables to use about every Poser dynamic props and, indeed, any OBJ model that have a contiguous mesh (some clothes need to be reworked under a modelling software to join the various parts of the mesh or they will fall apart during the simulation). The only limit I have found is concerning props that require to be fixed on some body parts because I don't know how to reproduce these constraints with the DAZ Optitex tool.

For the water shader, the last time I tried a similar thing, I used a "thin glass" shader as I found it gave better results that a full refractive water shader. In your picture, she seems to be entangled inside a gummy liquid (that's why I find the picture funny!)

JoePingleton In reply to Nihil-Novi-Sub-Sole [2017-01-17 18:50:07 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for introducing me to DynCreator
I tried "thin water" but it barley showed the water.  I tried the water from Fern Lake, it was too much.  So I settled on the "water" iray material and upon analaysis it looks too much like glue.  At least I learned what not to do again

Nihil-Novi-Sub-Sole In reply to JoePingleton [2017-01-18 06:20:22 +0000 UTC]

Yes, water shaders are very difficult, for small drops or full river/sea... And we can stay positive: at least, you have learnt how to make glue!

This is purely experimental, I tried it on a sphere first and thought why not a person, then I needed to give it some context.

What a clever idea!  I wonder if that'll work with VWD.

JoePingleton In reply to SickleYield [2017-01-17 02:38:47 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, I tried it on a sphere to see how it works and thought it might look cool on a figure.

How is VWD? I have seen some samples but have not tried it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SickleYield In reply to JoePingleton [2017-01-17 03:36:21 +0000 UTC]

It's a RAM hog and it runs out easily.  I wouldn't use it without Decimator, I don't think.  But it can do great stuff, including sim outfits with buttons and belts etc. attached, which DynCreator and Marvelous Designer currently cannot.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JoePingleton In reply to SickleYield [2017-01-17 18:12:04 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the great info, I had been looking at Marvelous Designer too,  but it sounds like  VWD is the way to go.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SickleYield In reply to JoePingleton [2017-01-17 18:18:28 +0000 UTC]

VWD is a lot cheaper even with the need to buy the base plus the bridge plus Decimator (that's around $165 total vs. $500 or so for MD).  The downside is that it doesn't have MD's garment creation/assembly features and it is nowhere near as fast and efficient.  the upside is that VWD can, like I said, handle a wider range of existing geometries with bits on them, and it can sim hair without it falling apart.
