Thank you, I have been on a quest to try animals in 3D and the fur always looks off, so I decided to try to mimic how nature does it

Very interesting to better use the ressources, and I think your experiments with strand based hair start to pay off!

You can’t go wrong with any kind of pups as far as I am concerned. Great job.

I think this one is your best dog hair yet! Although they look more like malamute coat than shepherd, they are very realistic.

Thank you, I haven't been too happy with my dog experiments lately, so I decided to start over and see how mother nature does it. I am not very good at texturing so I just approximated the coloring from one of the Warg materials

Well, I think your dogs are super cute, even when I don't actually say so.

I really like how one can see the different hair types. There is part where it looks fluffier, while the guard hair looks "harder". I especially love the fur structure around their necks. It looks so natural!
The only thing that irks me a bit is the the fur looks too uhm "fluffed up" on some places? Especially the top of the head, lower jaw, tail and the lower back. It doesn't quite seem to follow a direction there. But it looks very good around the neck and belly.
And overall it looks totally amazing, too!

Thank you for your feedback, There are still lots of problems with this fur being unrealistic. This was just a quick test of the ideas I learned from the Fur Wiki. More experimentation is definitely needed.

Excellent experiment. I will bear in mind the nature of proper animal fur for best results. I wish I had a bit more time to play around.
Now your dogs are cutely fluffy, but even though the guard hair is supposed to grow straight up fur has a direction, to lead the water away from the undercoat. The Shepherd would need a bit of grooming to give it that sense of fur direction to make it really look natural. Using the curl function will give you a good start, but won't work on its own. You will have to go and do some combing to get the best result.
