I was trying hard not to use any textures so I could keep it as a straight vector, but I felt it would help out a bit... The composition sort of called for a more painterly look.

All over. From here, from stock exchange, and some I've created, take pictures of or scanned in stuff myself.

the textures help out a lot i'm glad u decided to use them. i love vector art, but sometimes it can seem too contrived, and using textures always helps to give your work that extra little push. love your gallery, keep up the good work

Fantastic! I love the subtleties in your work. Your details are well placed, even down to the slight scraggle of her eyebrows instead of perfectly shaped lines. The colors are well-blended and bold, which makes it very distinct and memorable. Definite fave!

They do! It's all in the details. The way I see it is, is the detail noted by its presence or its absence? Just the right amount can make or break a good piece. Too much...and you lose the piece. Too little...and it's empty, or lifeless. But, I'm rambling, now! Just wanted to say I agree!

This is awesome man, really nice work! I was wondering, did you use illustrator for this or photoshop? or both?

I'm trying to get my head around illustrator at the moment, ive had it for a while but only really use it for the live trace feature, any time i try to do anything else in it i just get fed up and end up doing it in photoshop instead. Meh i probably just need more practise.
