Description
This is a piece to practice tones and values...As you can see, the tones are laid in roughly, almost like blocking in colors and shapes in traditional paintings. It's far from refined, but I did this because A.) I haven't done jack sh*t in quite some time, and B.) I wanted to practice adjusting skin tones and natural shadows and stuff. The original photo reference was a lot paler, so I adjusted with warmer skin tones and such. The actress portrayed is the lovely Christina Ricci.Related content

Yeah and she is interesting, quite a beauty except sometimes I see her pics and I'm thinking, hmmm...alien...I think she's an alien. Something about her head.

THE LIPS!
Are my favorite part. I absolutely love vector in general but I love just sitting and stairing at the different pieces of the drawing and watching how they all come together- you are very good at creating harmony in your pictures. I love her lips and eyes the best- my only qualm is if you hadn't told me it was Christina Ricci I wouldn't have known.

Thanks for the comment my friend! Yea, I coulda worked on the likeness a little more, but I just went with the quick blocky style. I might do some more pieces on her to get a better likeness.

This is excellent, and i'm going to fav it, because i'd want people to fav it if i'd made it. Ugh, need some sleep before I comment.
The lips are stunning, as are the eyes and hair. If I had any criticisms (trying to be constructive here) i'd say that I, personally, prefer a flatter shading for skin tones, when dealing with vector - I can totally see what you're going for, but I would prefer a simpler shading system for the skin. That's just a personal preference, however, and it's still a fantastic vector

Thanks a lot for the +fav. I agree on the comment, If I were to refine this more, I would probably eliminate some of the values and work on a smoother transition...This is almost like working in the rougher values and toning them down as you polish in traditional paintings.

very good i think.. the color layings are perfect.. you got the vector lines in just the riight place.. i alwyas have tourble with that.. and i have trouble with making the skin not look like anything other than human skin.. i just cant get the colors down likehtis..

Thanks...Yeah natural skin tones are EXTREMELY difficult...I still dont think I quite nailed it down yet.
