Its illustrator, no mesh though.

I'm still learning to use the gradient mesh tool, so i've not been able to complete a piece using it.

What i used here was the blend tool, as far as i know its a much longer process than using the gradient mesh, and the result is a lot less smooth.

its well worth trying the tutorial that come with illustrator, the rest is just practice

Its an idea i have used a few times before, i just seemed to suit it, i wants a way of giving the hidden part of the face some shape.
