J.C. the Hybrid's Origin Chapter Four

Three days came and went since J.C.'s accident. Most of the family hasn't been the same since that day. The ones who took it hard the most were J.C.'s parents and Suki. The hospital transferred J.C. over to their home and has been in Barbara and John's lab ever since. Barbara and John haven't been doing well on business since J.C. was in the hospital or when he returned home.

Suki took it hard the most. Out of all of J.C.'s siblings, she really cared for J.C. and loved him with all her heart. Suki remembered the times J.C. cheered her up for the loss of her leg. He always had a good heart and tries to cheer her up whenever she's unhappy. Now, seeing J.C. in a coma after a church fire, Suki wanted to do something to cheer him up.

One night, Suki was about to go to bed when she heard crying. She went to find out where it was coming from. She saw that it was Barbara and John by a medical chamber. J.C. was inside it with an oxygen mask over his mouth and bandages over his missing limbs. Devastated, J.C.'s parents vowed to never leave their son's side, worried about his condition.

Suki: J.C...

Suki was heartbroken about seeing J.C. like this. She wished there was something she could do to help.

Suki: I'm sorry this happened to you, brother.

(Suki walks away)

Barbara and John spent a few more minutes with their son before going to bed themselves.

Both: We're sorry, J.C.

The next day, Barbara and John were having some issues with their business. Soon after J.C. got out of the hospital, their company was on the verge of bankruptcy. Suddenly, they get a phone call from an old friend.

John: Hello?

Ivo: Hello, Barbara and John.

John: Ivo?

Ivo: I heard about what happened to your son. I'm sorry for your loss.

John: We've all been heartbroken since that day. The whole family, I mean.

Barbara: If that's not bad enough, our company's going dark. Business has been slow since that tragic day.

Ivo: There might be a way to help your son and keep your company from going dark.

Barbara: What is it?

Ivo explains his idea and Barbara and John were surprised when they heard this. He signed a top-secret contract that could help them. Robotic suits for the police and the military.

Barbara: We'll think about it.

Ivo: Okay. Call me back when you come to a conclusion.

(They hung up)

Later that night, Barbara and John were up in their lab. The both of them couldn't sleep as they were thinking about what Ivo told them. John was wearing a gray t-shirt and light blue boxers with smiley faces on them while Barbara was wearing a green tank top and pink and orange striped panties. They both sat by the medical chamber J.C. was sleeping in.

John: Robotics for the police and military! Has Ivo gone mad, Barbara?

Barbara: For injured soldiers and officers, John, returning from battles, some hanging on by a thread.

John: Remember our promise? We started this business to help humans and mobians.

Barbara: I know. Now, we're given a chance to help our son.

(Flashback)

Ivo: I'm working on a new invention. It's called, "The Roboticizer". With it, it can give humans and mobians robotic limbs automatically, even repair serious injuries. Think of it: Paralyzed amputees given a second chance at life. And it wouldn't have to be just soldiers and police officers we help.

(End flashback)

Barbara and John looked at their son. Could the Roboticizer save their son's life? Ivo told them it would be used for medical use, saving a lot of humans and mobians with serious injuries. They looked at each other. Ivo could be right. With their company on the verge of bankruptcy and their son in a coma, the Roboticizer could be their last chance.

Both: Let's get to work.

The next morning, Barbara and John called Ivo and agreed to help him with the creation of the Roboticizer. Days passed as they worked hard on it. Soon, it was complete and have decided to present the prototype to G.U.N., hoping it will be a success. The day after that, they were about to present the Roboticizer to the G.U.N. Commander.

Ivo: We give you: The Roboticizer. The first true conduit between machine and organic life.

Commander: Very impressive, Ivo. But will it work?

Ivo: Oh, yes. Barbara and John, bring out our first test subject.

Barbara and John pulled back a red curtain. There, lying in bed was a G.U.N. soldier. Most of his body was destroyed.

Ivo: As you can see, this soldier was injured from a vehicle explosion, but with the Roboticizer, he is given a second chance in life.

The soldier was brought into the Roboticizer and it activated. They all watched as the chamber closes and there was a light coming from inside of it. Soon, the Roboticizer stops, and the chamber opens. They all saw the soldier come out of the Roboticizer. His damaged body was replaced with robotic implants. Barbara and John were amazed as they see this.

Ivo: And voila! The soldier is healed and ready for battle once again.

Barbara and John: Wait, what?

Ivo: The soldier is battle-ready once again. And a bonus, he's also been fitted with arm cannons.

(The soldier's arms turned into laser cannons)

Both: Ivo!

(Ivo looks at Barbara and John)

John: What's the meaning of this, old friend? This isn't what we planned.

Ivo: Your company was being driven into the ground and I had to make a decision, Barbara and John. You wanted to save your company, didn't you?

Barbara: Yes, but not like this! We're supposed to help humans and mobians, not turn them into weapons.

Ivo: Be reasonable, you fool! You need the funding! And have you forgotten that you wanted to save your son, J.C.?!

(Barbara growls)

Barbara: Don't you dare bring our son into this, Robotnik!

Suddenly, John grabs the core of the Roboticizer and pulls it out. He held it in his left hand and shows it to Ivo with a mix of sadness and anger in his eyes.

John: Is THIS what you want for our son?!

Ivo: NO, JOHN! The core isn't stable!

Suddenly, there was an explosion. When the smoke cleared, the Commander was being lifted up by some of his troops. Ivo coughs and looks around him. The Roboticizer was damaged from the explosion and the soldier that was roboticized was gone, vaporized from the blast. Suddenly, he hears someone's voice.

Voice: Someone get a doctor, quick!

Ivo looks and sees John the Hedgebat lying on the ground. His left arm was blown off from the explosion and he was being hugged by Barbara the Hedgecat, begging for help.

Ivo: No... what have I done?

Three days after the explosion, John was out of the hospital after getting his wound treated. He was lucky to survive the explosion, but his left arm was gone. He now had bandages wrapped around his severed limb. Later, Barbara and John were standing in front of the G.U.N. Base with Ivo who was holding a box of his stuff. After the Roboticizer explosion and John lost his arm, Ivo Robotnik lost his job.

Barbara: We still can't believe what you've done, Ivo. John and I agreed to help you build the Roboticizer for two reasons: Saving our company and saving our son, J.C. the Hybrid.

Ivo: I just wanted to share my knowledge of robotics with countless humans and mobians, Barbara. I didn't mean for anyone to get hurt, least of all, the both of you. We were more than just partners, we were friends.

(John walks towards Ivo and takes off his glasses)

John: Not anymore.

Ivo: John?

John: You're a great scientist, Ivo Robotnik. But you're not God.

Ivo looks down. All he wanted was to created robotics and it cost him two good friends. He then walks away from the G.U.N. Base. He narrowed his eyes as he walks away.

Ivo: I'll be back someday and when I do, I'll teach them a lesson they won't forget.
