Submission for the Rift "Create a Collossus" ContestPlanar theme: Death
Concept: A sightless behemoth lording over his plane. ten stories over the landscape it sees through all eyes...its weapons grown from its own flesh. That flesh the color of a fresh bruise. To face it means knowing your own mortality. Wish me luck!

Very intimidating and a great sense of scale. I love how his head is just one big toothy maw. The lack of eyes makes him even more sinister, it's a similar detail Giger used when designing the aliens.

The Body Mechanics(?) series of paintings is always an inspiration when trying to do horror...I'm a huge fan of Giger's. Thanks brother!

Sick man!...Hoe you created the form depth on this with the shade cells is nice...especially on the hand/sword double edge weapon...badass!

Wow...I love the details you've added since the last upload.
Gotta ask though, do you think, even a wizards light would shine high enough to highlight the face like that? I think the shadows towards the top of the beast and at its back need to be gradually darker.
I think the background is a little plain at this point. Need to add some depth to the mountains/hills in the background and some contrast to the blood red sky. There should be some shadows thrown behind the beasts hooves. IMHO...

Thanks....everything but the form was left simple because this is a concept piece for the contest....I have been playing with the BG and stuff for my own amusement though...lol. TOTALLY agree with you about shading and light, but I had to show the detail of the smaller horns on the head and stuff that would have been lost in those shadows.
