awesome capture, the blue tones are beautiful! I think there's a bit too much contrast, especially in the background, it would have been nice to have the blue fading out more, anyway it's a great shot!

I'm glad you like it! I actually like overexposure in photographs, so ramping up the contrast was intended. I can understand how that could annoy some people, but hey, you can't please everyone. Thank you for your comment, friend.

oh i like the title, it works well with this picture.
i think the water flows with a nice "rythm" the thin tube of water at the top splahing into the sppon creates interesting shapes and your timing does capture a "spoonfull of time"

this is such a great thing to have as your featured deviation... the way it was taken is absolutely perfect. The contrast is astonishing... you did really well with changing the colour balance on this. I think the border would've looked good in the way you've done some of the other, with the sort of faded look, and parts of the picure? but it doesnt really need it, because its such a beautiful photo anyway. The quality is superb as well, the drop of water are astonishing. A definate , I dont know how I didnt see this when I looked through earlier

john-pecko In reply to cariadav [2004-09-16 08:38:56 +0000 UTC]

Oh, thank you for the +fav...
Yeah, about the border. I was meaning to do it again, but most people said it's perfect the way it is. I did make another one (which I printed out too) and it looks better to me, but this is one of my first photos ever, so I'm going with the natural learning curve on this site. No edits, just a gallery that shows my progress in a way. Although most of my photos to date cannot measure up to this one; in my personal opinion, this is most definitely, along with the window, my favourite in my gallery... I'm so glad when people agree.

Thank you for the comment!

john-pecko In reply to najt [2004-07-29 11:10:31 +0000 UTC]

najt In reply to john-pecko [2004-07-29 11:15:00 +0000 UTC]

john-pecko In reply to najt [2004-07-29 11:20:08 +0000 UTC]

Nisam vidio dodatne filtere za ovu Minoltu, jedino ako imas informacije gdje se moze kupiti kakav univerzalni (iako Z2 nema univerzalni objektiv, ali ono... mozda nesto iskrompiram)?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

najt In reply to john-pecko [2004-07-29 11:26:24 +0000 UTC]

Postoje univerzalni (npr. 55mm, itd.).

john-pecko In reply to najt [2004-07-29 13:24:19 +0000 UTC]

Sad si me zagrijao da kupim sirokokutni adapter barem 6 mjeseci ranije nego sto sam planirao.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

najt In reply to john-pecko [2004-07-29 19:33:39 +0000 UTC]

john-pecko In reply to najt [2004-07-29 20:57:25 +0000 UTC]

Dakle...

john-pecko In reply to craaig [2004-07-27 22:34:55 +0000 UTC]

Thank you friend, both for the +fav and the +watch... I really appreciate your support.

And how did I get it? Heh, well, I have pretty nice camera that allows manual adjustments of just about anything crucial. So I turmed on the macro mode, adjusted the focal length to the minimum, and the shutter speed to the max (1/1000 of a second) to freeze the moment... I took about 20 shots with different macro setups and manual focusing, but only three worked out - and this is the best of them. That's about it, if you don't count three minutes of Photoshop editing (for the purple-blue filter, a bit of contrast enhancement and the frame).

craaig In reply to john-pecko [2004-07-27 22:48:34 +0000 UTC]

everything comes out black when i have mine on 1/1000!!! i need a SLR to be honest

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

john-pecko In reply to craaig [2004-07-27 23:04:04 +0000 UTC]

Reduce the focal length to the minimum and increase the ISO sensitivity if it's too dark. Or use the flash, this one was taken with a fill flash, macro mode, ISO50 or ISO100 (can't remember), shutter 1/1000, F3.2 (the minimum with macro on, but I can go down to F2.8 when not using macro). The bathroom where I shot it was illuminated by candescent lighting (although that doesn't matter when using the flash on such a small distance, but I wanted to describe the set anyway)...

My camera isn't a SLR, btw. I feel it's too much for me at this moment. I still can't get the best out of this ultra-zoom DiMAGE Z2. but when I outgrow it, maybe I'll buy myself a SLR.
