For the Monthly Contest from , ponies playing GMOD.Okay, I know I'll probably regret this, but whatevs. Instead of talking about this image, I'm gonna talk about shipping.
Why? Because it's past 3 AM right now, and it seems like a good idea. So-yeah, I'll probably regret this.
Honestly, I have nothing against shipping. Pretty much any kind of shipping can work, as long it's done well. Twixie is no exception.
And I have to confess that I tried to come up with a shipping image featuring these two, but I just couldn't. Simply because I have a preference to have these two at odds with eachother. But also because they're canon and saw development in the show.
That's why, in my mind, it's easier to come up with "intimate" images featuring background characters - ie, Lyra and Bon Bon, Vinyl and Octavia, Doctor Hooves and Derpy. They didn't have any sort of character development, so it's much easier to work on their personalities, likes and dislikes and all that jazz.
I could elaborate more, but I said pretty much all I wanted to say.
...Actually, there is one more thing. (Wish I had my soapbox at hand)
DON'T INSULT OR BE AGGRESSIVE TOWARDS PAIRINGS YOU DON'T AGREE ON.
Like I said, as long it's done well, any pairing can work. And since we're talking about pairings OUTSIDE the show's canon, then trying to convince a pairing is better than others is nothing more than a big fat waste of time and energy.

Okay, as for making the comic itself...
I tried to keep Photoshop at a minimum here, but I still had to do minor touch-ups, not to mention other things like the magic auras and the motion effect on the first and second-to-last panels, and the "color wheel" on the third-to-last panel.
But one thing I liked was the water splash on the second panels, which was created with the help of a bathtub.

It's been so long, but I think I used Photoshop's Smudge tool with low strength and a different brush.

I guess it's the last frame. You've got Trixie all contorted in a way as if she's trying to dodge the bullets, like Neo did.

Of course, her back hoof'll be touching her face and pretty much every single bone joint'll be all over the place, but at least she won't be all stiff. XD

Hey, everyone has different reasons for shipping or not shipping.
For example, I don't ship Twilight and Spike because I think of them as a family. Close siblings, if you will.
At the same time, I do ship Rainbow Dash and Sonic because of their similar traits...and I'm a fan of both series.
So it's no big deal.
As for the comic, well done. Certainly creative ideas for Twilight vs. Trixie in Gmod.

That's why I can't create shipping images involving the Mane 6. They all pretty much make sense to me, so it's easier for me to work with pairings involving background characters.

By the way, I kind of like your comic style on how you divide the panels up. Kind of beats the typical square/rectangle panels people like I do.

I'm not really for that kind of shipping, that is, if you get my drift. Though I really like the rivalry between Twilight and Trixie, so faving this is a no-brainer.

Too bad the Magic Duel ep wasn't that epic, 'cause it had the potential for such. But then again, it's easy to forget MLP's target audience are kids, so having Twilight use wit and cunning to defeat Trixie makes perfect sense.

To this day, Magic Duel is my favourite MLP episode. In my opinion it was done almost as I imagined it to be. Sure, if I had control, I probably would of upped the intensity a bit more and would of made the story last two episodes because the deep character interactions and just how much potential it has. But like you said, it has to be kid friendly too. My only complaint was the ending felt a little rushed and Trixie's reformation seemed quick. That is, assuming Trixie was making a sincere apology and trying to snake her way out of a hopelessly lost situation.

MLP episodes seem to have this trend, where the third act is weaker than the other two acts.
But the more I think about it, I think it's due more to the fact that the series wasn't supposed to have more than 65 episodes, as most TV shows - especially those centered around toys - have to face. And given the fact that scripts are finished several months before the actual episode airs, it was rushed probably because the staff felt they didn't have much else to work on Trixie's character. She faced humiliation, tried to have her revenge, failed and (apparently) learned her lesson. The End.
But now that the writers have at least one more season to work on, perhaps they could bring back Trixie. One possible idea a fanart showed was to have her acting as a tutor to younger characters.
Maybe that could work.
