She is a character of mine; an OC, I suppose. She is more or less a Ranger; most excellent with the sword, fair with the bow. But her concentration on sword fighting manifests in her ability to use either hand (or both) as needed.
She wears a little armor; enough for a bit of protection, but not enough to cause her to make too much noise as she's stalking, or to slow her down appreciably (although, in a siege or battle of that nature, she'd don whatever armor she could lay hands on). For the most part she relies on speed and skill, and the fact that most of her opponents see a woman and think "easy prey."Β
She long ago gave up any hope of downplaying her hair, and decided to embrace the look. She favors rubies and emeralds for jewelry, and prefers cloaks of red.Β
As she stands in this picture, it's toward the end of the story I have for her (currently existing only in my mind -- working on that, too). The gauntlet on her left hand is to cover the cosmetic damage from the grasp of a frost giant (she does have just a bit of vanity about her). She's lost her eye in coming to the rescue of a party of adventurers and finishing off a monster of some sort. I'm leaning toward dragon, but a true Tolkien-esque dragon would be a big creature to handle, and I haven't quite got the mythology/biology of her 'world' built up just yet. In any case, it's cramped her style a bit on the blade work, and she is currently working to get back to full 'two handed' fighting.
Still, come to think of it, she'd look great in a set of dragon scale armor. It would go with her 'red' theme.

Y'know, I thought at first look that this was Red Sonya--Robert E. Howard's original brigand/pirate rather than Marvel's barbarian retrofit.
In any case, cool pic!
