Back when I first started customizing, I started with cheap dollar store guns. This "Robocop" style gun is a perfect example of that and when I saw it in a store recently I had to grab it. I realize the paint job isn't the most complicated thing to come out of JA, but I hope the lighting makes it look cool

It's large enough for an adult hand, but it's not oversized like the Auto 9 feels. It would get you shot if that helps give a sense of scale! lol
I did check out your journal and I have to agree with a lot of it. It's never a good thing when they change the original feel or "reason" behind a film. I don't want another Ghostbusters, I know they'd cram so much CGI into the film that it just wouldn't be fun to watch (for me).

I don’t mind remakes and them doing something different things. The points I wrote about not being in the original, like Murphy getting blown up rather than getting shot to death. I’m not saying this cos I want a shot for shot remake, it’s because those scenes were integral to the plot and the character’s development.
One of my favourite movies is 1982s The Thing a remake of 1951s The Thing from Another World a very different movie from the original. It’s the fact “this” remake just looks so uninspired and lazy and trying to be cool, compared with a movie that is so full of social satire and an inventive special effects and “is” cool because they were just trying to make a good movie.
And why does Robocop look like a cylon with a bad matte black paint job? It looks unfinished.

It's a very inexpensive base and fairly easy to weight and prep, so I would say....shoot me an email and I can talk to you about price! hehe Sorry, I just don't want to turn my dA page into ebay and it really does help to have any inquiries saved in my gmail account

They're at a local store here in Clearwater Florida. It may not be the exact same toy, but $20 does sound a bit steep if they're identical

Is this thing currently in dollar stores? Those cheapo guns sure do look awesome nowadays, especially compared to the round pieces of crap I used to see as a kid lol

It was in one specific store local to me, but I don't know about national availability, sorry. It would make a great starter prop and can be made to look pretty legit with a little practice

For a beginner I would suggest you check out "rub n buff" that they sell at craft and art stores like "Michaels" or "Pearl" depending on where you're located. There's some good tutorials online as to how to use it, but it's nice and easy and you're not likely to make much of a mess, haha. Just keep in mind that it is a wax and with a lot of handling the silver will wear off. If that happens, just reapply and you're set!

for that I'd suggest you use a soldering iron with a sharp tip. be careful not to get the tip too deep in the plastic and it should give a pretty decent "carved" look
