It’s hard running a carnival. People have so many options for entertainment these days, it’s tough to get anyone to take a drive out here just to enjoy a few games and rides. Or at least, it was tough, until you added your latest invention to the carnival attractions.
“The Golden Orb” doesn’t seem like anything special at first glance. It’s just a room filled with blinking golden lights. But if someone stares at those lights long enough, they can get very relaxed. Relaxed enough for you to put them in a trance. At first, all you did was plant the suggestion in their minds that they just had the best experience of their life. That got you enough good word of mouth to turn your carnival into a huge success. But soon you got greedy. You started telling the rich ones to empty their wallets and then forgot they ever had money in there. And when a celebrity or CEO of a big company would show up, you’d “suggest” that they move some of their money into your untraceable offshore bank account.
It all seemed like the perfect crime… until you saw Wonder Woman on your security monitors. You didn’t think there was any way that lost money could be traced back to you, but there was no other reason Wonder Woman would be skulking around here after hours. If she found out what really went on here, you were finished.
But maybe things weren’t so bad. Your “Golden Orb” ruse had worked pretty well so far. Maybe it was even strong enough to work on a superhero. You could make her forget why she came here, or even convince her that you’re innocent. If you were careful enough, you could probably convince her of all kinds of things…
You study Wonder Woman closely on the monitors as you plan your next move.

„I will stay here. I don’t need my sword or my shield.“ she says throwing them to her side. „They feel so heavy. I love being brainwashed and becoming a slave. I want to surrender to you and the light more than anything else.“ she says obediently in her mindless voice.

„I‘ve been here before the last three years and trust you with my life.“ she says and then bonds herself with her lasso. „My biggest weakness is being tied up by men, I loose all my powers when I’m tied up.“

„It feels right. This is what I deserve. I am nothing.“ she says mindlessly.

„Diana Prince is my real name.“ she answers without hesitation.

„Yes, of course.“ Diana immediately removes her bracelets making her a human without powers.

„I... feel good. I feel obedient... submissive... it feels like this is where I belonged my entire life.“ she answers.

*From her perch in the security office, Cameron sees Wonder Woman approaching the carnival. Cameron knew this would happen eventually. Too many famous and important people had been "modified" at the carnival for people not to notice. Cameron presses a button and speaks into a microphone that goes to an earpiece of a very cute brunette female police officer who already came to inspect the park and had fallen pray to Cameron's trap. She steps forward.*
"Can I help you, Wonder Woman? We're always happy to assist the Justice League."

"Of course. Anything in particular you'd like to see?" *The officer says with a smile, unlocking the gate and then locking it behind Wonder Woman after she comes through.* "Can't leave the gate wide open while I'm on patrol with you." *She offers as an explanation before Wonder Woman thinks anything of it. She walks around the park in front of the heroine, pointing out all the rides and attractions as she goes, as if giving Wonder Woman some type of guided tour. All the while, unbeknownst to Diana, their every movement is being tracked by multiple security cameras.*

*The guard nods, leading Wonder Woman into the rides side of the carnival. The usual rides are all there: tilt-a-whirl, Ferris wheel, spinning tea cups. The only ride that doesn't seem exactly like every other carnival Diana has ever seen is one called "The Golden Orb". That one is in the center of all the other rides, but it still seems to be operating, while all the others are shut down for the night.*
"What, the Golden Orb? We never shut that one down. Boss says it would cost her more to shut it down every night and restart it every morning than it does to just run. To be honest, most of us don't even notice it anymore. But people seem to love it when the carnival is open. It's by far our most popular attraction."
*The guard goes on talking about other rides in the park, but from her vantage point, the owner can see that Diana is still curious about the Golden Orb and the fact that it's still running this late at night.*

*The guard escorts Diana to the Golden Orb, but doesn't answer any of her questions as they walk towards the large machine. As they get to the entrance, the guard moves to walk away.*
"I don't ride it, I just guard it. No idea why people like it so much. Ok. If you need anything, I'm around!"
*The guard politely nods and walks away, seemingly to continue on her rounds as a night watchwoman. From the security alcove, the secret person observing all of this watches as Wonder Woman approaches the Golden Orb, her fingers at the ready to activate its special powers once certain the Amazon is securely inside of the machine.*

*The hidden figure waits until Wonder Woman is in the very center of the room to begin her process to start the machine. As Wonder Woman walks all the way across the room from the only door, the watcher flips a switch and the lights begin to flicker to life. At the same time, the door mechanically slams shut with a loud thud, and a loud heavy lock audibly engages behind it. From her seat in the control room, the watcher rests her hand on the panel that allows her to change the speed and frequency of the lights as she gauges Wonder Woman's reaction to the initial salvo of the lights on her mind.*

*The watcher smiles as she watches Wonder Woman look around the room and find no safe place. Everywhere her eyes go are more flashing golden lights. The watcher sees watch as Wonder Woman's arms go up to defend herself, but then slowly begin to drop slightly the longer she stares. The Orb continues to work its magic on the superheroine. The watcher reaches down and twists one button on the control panel, moving the intensity of the lights from 2 out of 10 to 4 out of 10, watching to see what impact, if any, this has on Wonder Woman.*

*The watcher sees the Amazon's arms beginning to drop to her sides as the lights continue to flicker in her face. The watcher flips a switch and the lights change from flashing to a strobing pattern, designed to enhance any victim's desire to focus on the lights. It seems clear to the watcher that despite her superheroine status, Wonder Woman was not immune to the power of the lights, but the watcher still wants to be sure Wonder Woman is captured just as she would ensure any one else was captured. It would be crazy to do anything less than the most prudent series of deepening actions, especially for someone as strong and powerful as Wonder Woman.*

*The watcher waits, knowing that every moment Wonder Woman stares at the lights, her mind is grinding to a halt until she will be mindless and thoughtless before the lights. The watcher turns up the intensity again, wanting to make sure there is no way Wonder Woman's mind can break free, knowing that soon she will break, she will submit. So many had come to the carnival to stop her, but the watcher's machine had defeated them all. That security guard was once a city police officer, but after 2 minutes 'inspecting' the orb, she left her job and 'happily' joined the carnival. All the watcher had to do was wait and eventually, Wonder Woman's body, her eyes, her stare, her posture, would show the watcher that once again, the Orb had taken another mind.*

*The watcher presses a button in her control panel and the door opens. Wonder Woman does not move, but the watcher still doesn't want to push it. The security guard from before steps into the Orb and makes her way over to the Amazon as the door slams shut again. She waves her hand in from of the heroine's face and gently calls her name to see if any response is illicited.*

For the first time, a woman's voice fills the Orb, booming out over some kind of P.A. system.*
"Did it work?"
*The guard waves her hand in front of Diana's face again, still with no response.*
"I'm not sure, boss. She's not moving, and she didn't respond when I talked to her."
"Very well, let's test this out." *The female voice echoes around the chamber.* "Wonder Woman, why have you come to this carnival?"

The watcher sees Wonder Woman's face change. The slack jaw state fades a little and her posture improves slightly. The watcher ups the intensity on the lights again, hoping to draw Wonder Woman's mind back under the thrall of the Orb.*
"I see. Does anyone know you're here, Wonder Woman?"
At the same time, The watcher speaks directly into the guard's earpiece so the Amazon will not hear her.* "My dear, time to take off your sunglasses for your weekly retraining." *The guard complies with taking off her sunglasses and instantly is lost in the lights of the Orb. She stands to Diana's left, staring seemingly at Wonder Woman, but actually straight through her, captured by the lights on that side of the round Orb, her mind returning to the state is has been in so many times since she first came to investigate the carnival and learned the secrets of the Orb herself.*
