You're the only artist I know who can get 38,000 views, 755 favorites, and 190 comments on a picture of a desk. And that's because it's crazy awesome. From safety skizzors to CD.
I wish I could draw backgrounds...

Or maybe it's because the desk looks kind of like boobies from an angle?

If you look back at some of his flash things, he actually made an animated version a while ago...

lol, so you drew a picture of a picture (referring to the paper in the back), huh? Well, I've seen crazier. I love how everything looks so realistic and so drawn at the same time, a nice balance. And that white eraser (is it an eraser?) thing looks cute. ^^

Wow.... A desk... Wasn't expecting that when I clicked on that worm-scrapping girl's info link ^^'
Anywho... yeah... It's cool and all, but not exiting. I feel really terrible for saying that, but I sort of agree with what with the picture thing, evn though I know you have no camera. The CD is obviously the most detailed, but I feel that the glass was deprived of love XP Even though it's clear, doesn't it still cast a flashy shadow? The first thing that really caught my eye though was the paper with all the doodles on them... Anything give you any inspiration for them, or were they just random all the way?
π: 0 β©: 1
JohnSu In reply to pwned-by-twilight [2008-12-19 02:31:40 +0000 UTC]
Quite frankly this was originally made to be used in a flash game which would balloon in size if I used a bitmap instead of native vector art like so, and I get much more satisfaction drawing a picture than taking one. It contains more of your life in it, y'know?
The glass's shadow was too flashy, so I opted out of it due to my not wanted to wrack my brain over optical physics and that version of flash not being able to create gradients in the shape necessary for that feat.
And yeah, the doodles were also related to the game (which was about crafting little dolls and playing minigames with 'em. It was totally manly).

0.o That's friggin nice; though yeah, I think some strong colors to the table wouldn't have hurt so much. The CD pwns BTW, though not as much as THE DOGGY IN THE PAPER!1
...Or is it a cat?

As long as you don't make any sudden movements, the picture should remain the same.

Drawing desks or other surfaces with a bunch of stuff all over them is a good way to practice shading and light source without having to worry about anatomy.

Why not just take a picture of a real desk? Wouldn't that save you a hell of a lot of time? And then you could just add whatever you were going to add to this one.... Anyway, i have no reason to be correcting your art, I can't do anything artistic other than write poetry, but that isn't true art is it? I don't know, and here I go, blabbing again.
Radda, Radda, Radda......
What the hell?!?!?

I think a vectoring of the desk was a great idea, i mean, it's a pretty cool picture. And vectoring is a cool art form.
I think it can be considered art, since he he took time to capture what he saw. When people tell me that realism isn't real art like surrealism (idk why'd they say that), I'd tend to tell them it's not true. When artists take something they see and capture it as they see it, whether it's more in depth or really REALLY messed up, it'd be art.
I mean, many people say literature isn't real art (which is BULLSHIT by the way; I write a bit myself and I think it's an art form. I mean, they call it LIBERAL arts for a reason!) so uhh yeah
yyeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaahhh

^^ I suck at art, I only write stories and poetry, I'm good at it. I won second place in the Junior division for the state, poetry contest, I was really shocked because the poem was one of my older, less good ones, but I guess the judges didn't think so, right?^^
