Description Roughly translates as "Grand Adventures on Clockwork Island"

This was actually a game I started a while ago but then dropped due to performance issues and my inability to design a stage. Anyhow, the protagonist is this silver-haired wind-up doll named Lapanzal with hair that can turn into a variety of tools to help her on the island (ie - a knife, a ball, a bow & arrow, and a hand, as shown). I made up her baggy just for this picture. Now that I look at it, that zipper would be a lot more useful at the top of the bag, huh?

Clockwork Island is an isolated country whose inhabitants are primarily toys and primitive machines, like wooden soldiers, stuffed animals, and...wheels. Bah, I haven't thought this up very thoroughly, and it's a completely different setting from my original game anyhow. I need to go look for a job now.

EDIT: Man, this looks like a CD cover. I should slap "Original Soundtrack" on there somewhere.

Seriously, this is something you shouldn't just abandond; get to work on it ASAP. Who knows, some big-time game company might ask, nay, beg for your permission to make you web game into a video game.

This might actually be the first game I buy.

As in, original.

With royalties to the artist and all that jazz.

*cough*

I doubt you'd say yes, but...

Would you mind if I tried making a little demo game with this character? I've a bit of experience with scripting platforming games, and I'd like to give it a shot, at least.

I wouldn't do anything with it without your consent first, so I'm not trying to rip you off or anything like that. It just seems like a neat concept, and I'd like to see it made. It reminds me a bit of Dynamite Headdy.

I'd buy that CD.

Oh, and SURE, it would be more useful to have the zipper on top of the bag, but it wouldn't be half as cute.

True, true. But then it might bite you. And getting caught in a zipper hurts.

And it'd be really hard to steal from! At least, subtly (Jacking the whole bag is still an option).

I think this would be an awesome game, but when you said "stage"
I think it would be something like a 2-D stage,
Like the old Kirby games...

This is wonderful! Very cute, and it's extremely well-done from a design aspect.

I love her color-scheme. I like how you didn't maker her too bright and colorful and instead went for whites, grays, browns, pale-purples, etc.
That would help her stand-out from the kinds of backgrounds you would use based on the way you described the setting (and what we can see of the setting in this piece), since Clockwork Island looks and sounds like it'll use bright, vibrant colors and pastels.
Oh, and speaking of her color-scheme, the pale-purple you used for her eyes and hat-ribbon work lovely with the rest of the colors here.

As for her overall design, I love it.
The old-timey British maid outfit was a surprisingly nice-looking choice of clothing for her (I never would have thought of that). Her clothes are also extremely well-rendered. Clothes like a maid's outfit are extremely hard to draw. She looks like a loveable little Marry Poppins.
On that note, another part of her design I love is the fact that she's flippin' adorable.

Having the end of her braided tail turn into various useful items is a very creative idea. This would also add an extremely interesting and fun dimension to the gameplay of a game you put her in. That would also be something I'd love to see you animate.

I like her baggy too. Though it's true the opening should be at the top of a regular hand-bag, for the sake for creating a mouth for the baggy I think it's OK. Besides, it could be viewed a second compartment to the bag, or just a semi-unrealistic element of design to give the bag a face (not every detail needs a purpose for being there if it's an element of the design. Anybody want to tell me what all the damn zippers are for on Donald's Kingdom Hearts outfit? ).

So this would be a Side-scrolling Platformer made in Flash? That would be awesome, because the inherent style of Flash animation combined with your style of drawing would work perfectly for the overall feel of this game.
It's a shame you're considering (or have already decided) to drop this project. This looks like it has the potential to be a very fun & loveable Flash game. If you're having trouble with performance or other issues, have you ever considered using something like Game Maker software instead?

Anyway, spectacular work, Mr. Su.
Though I've failed to mention it before now, I'm a big fan of your work. Pieces like this show why.
I'm also impressed you seem to be fluent in Japanese, and yet still use English better than I do (I know that's a weird thing to mention, but I've had to listen to tons of Japanese artists who butcher English or Japan-obsessed anime-fans who think they know Japanese but don't know sh**. Besides, they're both extremely difficult languages to learn at any time).

I can't wait to see more from you, whatever it may be.
Again, great work on this and everything else, and I hope the job-hunt goes well.

AwesomeDude, that was an awesome comment, and I thank you very much for your favorable analyses. I actually got a number of ideas from other sources - her eye color was taken from Iriya (Fate/Stay Night), her hair inspired by Eve (Back Cat), the dolly-ness of it all from Rozen Maiden, and the wind-up key I thought of after watching a parade at Disneyland.

Anyhow, thank you once again, and tomorrow I go to interview for a part-time job at an eatery! Woohoo! First time!
