Something very poignant about this one. I like it a lot.

Green fairy IN YOUR FACE!!!!

Bought many bottles of that stuff back in the days ...she never appeared

They say, the absinthe is left out nowadays, maybe it was too much fun.

I am based in loveless narco state The Netherlands. Where people believe that having the right opinion makes them good and brave humans. Well, half of them at least, the other half like to assert themselves as resistance fighters (better late than never..), actively resisting the abolition of blackface figures during our yearly Sinterklaas (Santa's nephew) children's party. Heroes, ain't they?

I think NL and especially the south of England are pretty much on the same page on that front. Although I often get to see flashes of Midwife TV, I mean, NHS TV, I mean, VD on BBC in the morning, and I'm at times shocked at how "Scandinavian" the UK has apparently become. A few years ago it was announced that food production was no longer a prime activity for British farmers, instead they made most from heavily subsidized "landscape management". It's the same kind of disney world over here. And every last trace of industry has been removed from anywhere near the cities, because industry is filthy and evil and "nature" is better, and we don't want to be reminded of industry and other foul and nasty aspects of life. Haha, I'm probably sounding like a grumpy old man, which I more or less am in fact

I'm a middle aged grumpy man but understand what your saying, we are in danger of destroying ourselves if we are not carefulΒ

Hmm, I hadn't gone so far yet as to think in terms of self-destruction, but an obsessive fixation on victimhood can never be healthy. Not that the individual subjects on VD aren't worthy of coverage, there's more this overall victim-oriented thing going on, which can be quite hard to criticize because it all seems so well-meant. But what I see is that there's a thin line between exposing abuse and liberating those who suffer from it, and keeping people locked in a role as victims forever. The "Scandinavian" model has a strong tendency toward the latter. Which makes sense from the point of the well-to-do dames/liberators, because it offers a comfortable degree of permanent control over those you're supposed to be "helping".

strange and strong effect , as the painting slides between three dimensional illusion and abstract two dimensional surfaces .
