I was thinking about KH HD 1.5, and it got me thinking about KH COM that one is debatably my Fav KH...(but I have no fave). we tend to get caught up with how kind axel truly is, for one sora/roxas and xion melted his icy heart, which revealed a youthful confused loyal soul willing to die for his friends. in many titles he countlessly came to the rescue or turned the tides in favor of our heroes.but before he met the heroes...
The years as a nobody were not kind to young lea, and he bittered just as his friend, if not worse than Saix.
"Axel has a mysterious, stoic, and calm demeanor ... A very good liar, he makes a point of keeping himself difficult to read, coming off as fooling around when really his mind is at work manipulating the other members around him. yep cruel axel is what inspired this pic. burning a card wile saying his famous yet controversial line: "It's about time you give me one hell of a show!"

Whoa... just... whoa. I didn't realise how sadistic Axel is in COM until you pointed it out! And looking at the cutscenes just then, you can really see his intentions before his heart was softened! Just... holy shirt man!!! I remember somewhere in 358/2 days that both Saix and Axel had plans to rule in the organization (I may be wrong here, I haven't played that game in a while!) and now I completely understand when Saix says that Axel changed. Reflecting back in COM and Days, you can see his cruel intentions from eliminating the other member without remorse, just simply because they were in his way, even freeing Namine was with the pure intent for just entertainment! Upon seeing Lea now, he would have to be one of the most developed characters in the series (the other being Riku)
And your art completely captures Axel in COM perfectly, you did an excellent job here!

"358/2 days that both Saix and Axel had plans to rule in the organization" yeah they did at one point or at least take it down, (they don't really specify) and yeah he really wasn't trying to do anyone a favor when he let namine free, simply to counter marluxia. seems the villain-turned-good characters are the best developed (Axel & Riku)

And I guess that's what makes them the most lovable characters in the series. I remember hating Riku in Kingdom Hearts, but that was mostly because he pushed me off when I was about to beat him in that race in the Destiny Islands, and he was a bit of an arse. And now he is my favourite character! I think it's also because you get to see them change while playing the games.

Com = best kh title, second only to Kh DDD which is just epic and to touch on your blog here, I honestly don't think Axel has changed all that much, really he has only changed sides, he's still as ruthless as ever, I mean he tore open a portal of darkness, left Ienzo and the others in confusion as his mind ticks over a plan, demanded to learn about the keyblade...all to further whatever gretaer goal he has burning away in that schemeing master mind of his...honestly I'm hoping it's to get Isa back but can't help but think he has something bigger planned to boot ffff such and interesting character >w<

I love Axel. He's possibly the deepest, most complex character in the entire series. You managed to draw him with that same kind of depth.

Ahhh, cruel Axel! So many people either don't know or don't remember him. That's what made me fall in love with his character: being just such a great fallen protagonist/turn-coat antagonist.

Actually, the next thing IΒ΄d like to know about Axel is his age, and how exactly he turned into heartless. Since in BBS, he and Isa were both about 14 years old, and it was told, that Kairi arrived in Destiny Islands few years before first Kingdom hearts.. LetΒ΄s say that she was ten.
During BBS, she was Soras age, four years old. That means, that heartless took over radiant carden about six years after Aqua dissapeared in the darkness. So that means, that Axel lost his hearts at age of 20, and if nobodies could get older, Axel is about 22 years old, and in the next game, he probably would be 23. Makes kinda sense. Provlem solved

according to the KH Novels (written by Tomoco Kanemaki, who is also one of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days's scenario writers)Axel says he gesses Roxas is about 10 years younger than himself. so that would put him 10+ roxas's age. 24? kh2 25?
and Kairi made it to the Islands not long after the events of BBS, it was very subttle but in the first KH sora and riku mention a "new girl" [link] (we can assume it's Kairi b/c what other new girl is there on an island where you know everybody)
and also from this scene [link] Ienzo still looks very young when Xehanort was seeking the Darkness under Ansem's name
it seems Xehanort wasted no time (even if he dosen't remember) messing up everyone's life in Radiant Garden.
